Realistic Battles for propeller planes used to be 1 hour long.
They were slashed to half an hour. The game mode has suffered from this, as it has become too close to Arcade-type battles, with the vast majority of encounters now playing out at very low altitudes, harming the variety of gameplay. Furthermore, nobody wants to play bombers when there isn’t enough time for a proper number of sorties.
The Realistic Battles mode is meant for a crowd that wants longer, more deliberate matches with more specific and less random fights. Its differentiation from Arcade has been weakened as a result.
I suggest increasing the time limit at least halfway back toward what it was, in order to restore emphasis on objectives and to add some viability to higher-altitude gameplay—something that is largely irrelevant in Arcade.
Propeller plane modes have been trashed for too long, please give them the love they deserve.

Isn’t that like the whole game?
Wasn’t it always like this?
I wouldn’t say this is one of the reasons why people don’t play bombers very much
Idk about that one dude
Eh
Idk, people climbing above the spawn and getting kills that way is something people do somewhat in Arcade
Top tier air rb only lasts for five minutes, so this probably wouldn’t change anything except make the game more painful cuz of base campers

even mid tier airrb only rarely ever makes it to 25 minutes, adding an extra 30 minutes still wouldnt incentivise anyone to climb because most of them still dont want to spend an hour playing a match, an extra 30 minutes would just make it more painful when someone is camping around their airfield or at alt
If you wanna see people climb in props go play around 5.0 and hope the enemy team doesnt have an attacker that goes for bases as your entire team will kill all their altitude to dive on them

I suggested this before, but it seems to be ignored. They should remove ground targets like AA and artillery, as well as AI aircraft. A lot of players come to Air RB just to spade their planes by farming ground targets and AI aircraft, then take those planes into Ground RB, which hurts both modes.
I wouldn’t want it removed. I have lots of good memories winning matches just by ticket advantage. It doesn’t hurt the scheme of things in ARB. It helps when you’re stock, burns tickets down if the enemy’s passive, and gives extra SL and RP.
The problem I just see is that some maps are biased towards ticket bleed behavior. Korsun has that one style where there’s a mega swarm of Il-10’s that bleeds your tickets dry if left untouched. Most Allies vs Japanese matches have unkillable landing crafts that just unstoppable ticket bleed. Norway also has like, weird ticket behavior. There’s no ground target there that actually matters when you’re Aircraft Carrier side (typically Axis), but allies or land-based AF can go for landing crafts fast.
Plus, I don’t think Gaijin would like to entertain the idea of increasing match time to 45 minutes. They want fast matches, just look at how GRB’s being lead to.
I am not against the idea though, but I would like to see ARB maps get reworked. They’re all so boring to be in. Everybody just gets funneled to the center eventually.

How are people supposed to play and spade ground attackers then? Those usually don’t perform well going against other planes
Then consider suggesting removing stock grind as well. While it may be not as noticeable at lower ranks, at higher tiers it becomes obvious problem. How is stock f4j with gunpod and 2 aim9d supposed to win vs fully spaded f4j with 4 aim9g and 4 aim7f and pdv hdn radar (stock one gets it too but no radar missiles)? You are dead in every scenario: altitude - swatted by aim7f, hugging ground - enemy gets above you, nullifies multipath and swats you with aim7f, running away or sideways - they catch up to you and kill with guns or aim9g.

You learn to be literate, only to write blasphemy like this? Shameful display.
Game needs to stop wasting my time with all these large air maps, all I want is small (conquest) 3 cap map (Golan Heights/Normandy) for quick and fast combat! also add a max limit to altitude like 5k
100% agree.
Gives us meaningful objectives too - also remove the respawning bases and allow us to bomb the airfield again like we used to.

Yes remove the stock grind and adjust the research points required to unlock each vehicle accordingly. Gaijin had 13 years to improve Air RB game mode but they did nothing. They will continue to do nothing.

Kill actual players in Ground RB or take suicidal head-on in Air RB.
Top tier air rb is not PROP air rb, as per my post

Whilst i also miss the good old times your proposal looks like an attempt to recreate battle scenarios which required sophisticated map design and highly passionate players.
-
Unfortunately these key factors vanished - prop Air RB became a grinding tool optimized to facilitate low skill game play (=head-on with first enemy marker, climbing is for nerds) with plain stupid map design.
-
These matches required actual strategic game play (like fuel management, target prioritisation), map knowledge (which ground units / target trigger which mission objectives) and enhanced knowledge of the capabilities & performance of all aircraft in the BR range - you rarely find this level today.
-
In addition it is quite obvious that gaijin has zero interest to facilitate the interests of more demanding players - the introduction of these ultra cloudy maps and way too low contrail altitudes was clearly aimed to eliminate the experience advantage of veteran players.
I would recommend to think about a kind of order in the war bonds shop or in-game shop which would allow you to extend the match duration for 5 minutes - currently you are forced to kill specific player/aircraft combinations before you do anything else.
But even if you succeeded - the remaining time is too short to find (and kill) the remaining enemies - or (happens way more often) little Timmy in a P-47 farmed 30-40 ground units and you lose by tickets.
Have a good one!

I agree in general - but imho the old legacy maps like Malta, Stalingrad or Britain (despite their flaws) are still my favorite maps.
Was my fav map years ago and even today when in the P-47 D-28. The ticket topic is rather complex - but with some luck and good bomber pilots in your team you can win even heavily outnumbered as from my pov most matches decided by tickets are mostly related to killing the 3 non-respawning bases.
I saw recently even some smart Seafire pilots using the optional carrier spawn in order to intercept 335s, 217s & 264s trying high speed low alt runs. to the 3 bases.
