The A cap on maginot is easily defendable for German teams lmao. They absolutely farm there and it’s arguably the hardest point to take for the attackers.

Most of the attacker games I lost on maginot I lost without even taking A.

Them being there also doesn’t make the gameplay unbalanced.

It’s mostly just German main coping wanting to make this gamemode even easier for them.

In shooter games, people get bored of asymmetry rather quickly. This mission type is already trying to introduce a commendable asymmetry of objectives and it ain’t easy. No need to pile up even more asymmetries.

There’s a reason why it hasn’t returned. It suffered from the same issue encountered by every single historical event ever tried in WT.

The milsim experience of deploying a Maus to the fucking Arctic side by side with Italy to defend a research base from France. So immersive. Really gives you an understanding of the logistical and organisational requirements of tank combat.

No more so than GRB, which is to say, not at all.

It’s a 4.7 - 5.7 BR bracket equivalent, but without the quantitative MM restriction of max 4 players at 5.7. The only difference is in the objectives and since this is a test for a mission type there is no need to talk about vehicle placements just like it makes no difference if you get conquest or domination in GRB - the BRs stay the same.

Besides, what is this, time travel for thee and not for me? The PaK Puma and the Porsche Tiger would never be allowed to be in the same lineup if this was done under historical MM. You can bring along the Dicker Max, that is also time travel since the last one stopped being functional after the battle of Stalingrad, etc etc.

Whatever historical WW2 themed event they do have in mind will likely be announced soon. But it ain’t this one, chief. BVVD mentioned them as separate points in his post.

WW2 themed is not the same as pure historical. I never advocated to make this a pure re-enactment sim.

Third game. Maningot again. First point held, we pushed into the attacking spawn. Maningot is clearly a problem!
A yak 9k was causing havoc
I left before the end because it got really boring waiting for the last 2 to run out of respawns

Interesting to see something new, but few games was enough to spot the negatives that are affecting almost all other game modes right now.

  1. Death limit after which you are forced to leave to main menu. Just make like in nuclear escalation where you can have unlimited spawns as long as you have SL, and SL + SP for planes.
  2. Players can leave after 1-2 deaths and new players can’t refill the vacant place to make teams even. Again, it should be like in nuclear event.
  3. Both sides should be attackers and defenders to push each other in both directions. Currently defenders in most cases are very passive and almost always just sitting near spawn and sniping allowing attackers to crawl to point and grab all points 1 by 1. Defenders lack any motivation to push as they already start with captured point and don’t have to capture anything else, and when attackers grab the point it’s already too late to push them back.

Then it appears that our problem is solved. Since there is a majority of WW2 vehicles in this bracket, and historical acuracy is not required, the time travellers can stay where they are. Glad we cleared that up.

But the other mode is arcade version which i don’t want to play

The fundamental issues Gaijin has with this game mode are twofold:

  1. Gaijin has cultivated a player base whose playstyle is contradictory to the games original gameplay. As a result, you’re seeing problems because this game mode doesn’t fit the fast-paced gameplay that players have become accustomed to in Ground Battles. The declining player count in active battles reflects this mismatch.

  2. The game mode addresses none of the fundamental issues already present in Ground Battles. The main problems with Ground Battles have always been:

    • #1: CAS
    • #2: Lack of meaningful objectives
    • #3: Poor map design
    • #4: Vehicle balance

Instead of solving these issues, this game mode arguably makes some of them worse. It covers one of the widest balance ranges in the matchmaker (3.7-5.7), provides no meaningful objective for the attacking team beyond rushing the capture point or sending light tanks ahead, and is played on some of the worst maps in the game.

Game 4, port novo defending as germany. we were back to the D point this time. Of course we spammed ATTACK THE D POINT DEFEND THE D POINT!

CAS not an issue this game. Felt more balanced as we were pushed back until the attacker numbers dwindled.

Time travel irritations as usual

SL rewards are spot on in this mode.

i disagree. the game mode works, CAS is more restricted, and theres now layer of actual tactical gameplay. it needs to be made pernament.

So, “historical” doesn’t always mean WW2, of course: he doesn’t say specifically WW2.

This isn’t really a new mode/mission type, as we’ve done earlier versions of Advance in previous years. It does have historical matchmaking though, which BVVD has always equated in previous comments to be what he considers “historical events.” So long as it’s Allies on one side and Axis on the other, to him it seems, it’s “historical.” So I think the jury’s still out on whether this was actually the historical-WW2 themed special event of this summer.
