Asymmetrical Battles Await You In the “Advance” Event!

Because germany total superiority sniping with Tiger P, VFW and PzIV/70 in the game mode, i tried yo play with all the nations and i can say i just started won games when germany was bybmy side or when i was the one playing germany,also, all the matchs playing germany ended with 9-12 kills so thats a thing to check, the problem was that there was no cooldown to the tanks u use,like, u could just spawn the same anoying tank 5 times in a row, talking about the VFW for example,man, u have a sniper with a 4s reload, extreme survability and a tiger II gun at a really long distance so good luck trying to hit him before he does.
The game mode has a lot but a really lot of things to improve,like the entire game mode, but cant blame it so much since its just a test, i made a post talking about all the things they can improve to make it look like a real breaktrough game mode that is balanced for everyone.

New change:

i would love to see this game mode be permanently added at some point i think its a nice change of pace however i would change just a small thing like keeping the last point captured up for the attackers so people without the parts modification can actually repair their vehicle or rearm after losing all of their shells for tanks with extremely low ammo count and buggy ammo wrecks

Shocking… German tanks that do really well in frontal engagements are overperforming in a very linear gamemode!

I think 6.0 might improve the balance. M18s will be in play which are a very good counter to the German heavies. Germany gets a slightly better Tiger E and access to all the 6.0 Panthers (which would make for some nice variety against the sea of Tiger H1s we currently have).

i disagree on that. its much more fun than random battles and makes people do other things than just drive at cap zones and die. Advance encourages teamwork, communication, squad play and flanking much more.
There is no issue with this game mode that can’t be easily fixed. And it also didnt help that 2 out of 3 maps were “brave choices” from gaijin(even tho volokolamsk works nicely), and that certain br changes in the recent past weakened some nations more than others.

Or people could just carry HE ? The PT-76 is already a hard counter to the open top german big guns.

And also the Japan M36 with 300mm HEAT.
If you rush a T-34 straight to a Tiger it probably end badly.

For matches like these there needs to be a buy-in or deposit to play so that people don’t just quit

What I Think of Advance

Just saying this is one of the first times I use the forums and I’m using it because I think as a “tester” we are obligated to give feedback to gaijin

Ok I think that this is possibly one of the greatest thing that gaijin did in a while and the mode is fun, but here are some improvements I think it needs for next time the Devs decide to test it again.

  1. People that commented before me said “this mode is russian bias” but that’s outright false. I would say that this mode VERY heavily favours Germany and it makes sense that it does. I suggest to increase the B.R because if you don’t have 6.7 russian and American tanks then there is literally no way you could counter Germany. And I’m not saying this because I’m playing American and get killed by tigers. I played this event ONLY as Germany (and I guess a little bit of Russia) and I won almost every single time. That’s because at 3.7 to 5.7 Germany has the greatest vehicles in game with nothing to counter. The jumbo has a horrible cannon that barely penetrates the tiger, and the IS series doesn’t have good armour yet to counter the tiger. And like I said I play Germany and like that I win but it isn’t fair that others don’t. When we attack we use panthers with decent speed and great armour. When we defend we use unkillable tigers that pen anything, but can’t be penetrated.

  2. I agree with others that the defending team is harder to play. You go against good tanks while you can barely stop an assault and even if you are 3 metres away from the zone you can’t uncap it fast enough. Also since you spawn So far most of the time by the time a is captured it’s just a smooth road to E. So here is what I suggest. (No sorry I don’t suggest that, others did, but I agree) Make the defence spawn closer to the zones. Make it take longer to cap the zones. And lastly make at least 2 tanks be needed to cap a zone. Sometimes the defenders are actually winning and have a powerful defensive line. All I need to do to secure victory is take a light tank, go around their unbreakable line and cap 3 zones in a row, because no one can stop me because they are too forward and capping it quick.

  3. This has nothing to do with the mode itself but no one talks about it and it’s important and it’s about what this mode did. I’m currently grinding air, and even though I tested the mode I still want to continue air battles because what can I say I have choice. This isn’t the problem obviously but the problem is that gaijin is testing advance and nuclear thunder in the same time. Even though advance will close in a few hours they will probably test it again. This makes battle ratings between 6.0 to 12.7 in ground completely empty and 1.0 to 13.0 in air also empty because people are testing better game modes. This is a problem for people still playing this B.R range because there is simply no one in battle. So it’s either gaijin needs to add events and tests for new and better game modes for every single B.R or focus at one thing at a time (which is arguably better)

I have played around 20 to 30 matches, so I feel confident sharing my opinion on this game mode.

First, I really like the concept of having one team attacking and the other defending. It is a great idea and can be very engaging.

However, the mode definitely needs some improvements.

Starting with balance: in about three-quarters of my matches (roughly 15–20 games), I played as the Allies and lost almost all of them, except for two or three. Germany clearly dominates the battlefield at the moment. To improve balance, both teams should have the same number of players.

Some vehicles also negatively impact gameplay and should be removed or restricted. For example, the Puma (all versions) can reach the capture point in about 10 seconds, while defenders have barely left their spawn, which feels unfair. The VFW and the Porsche Tiger (be fl swg) are also too strong for this mode especially because they are spammed.

The spawn system also needs adjustment. When you lose the first capture point and die, you respawn very far from the next objective, giving the enemy team plenty of time to capture it without resistance. Spawns should not move so quickly or so far away.

It could also help to limit the number of times a player can spawn the same vehicle (for example, a maximum of two spawns per vehicle).

Additionally, defenders should be given some time to position themselves before attackers are allowed to spawn.

Finally, larger zones and more varied maps would improve the experience. The snow map works well, but the port map feels unbalanced, as attackers can reach the objective much faster than defenders.

Now allies teams are suffering what the germans suffer in the regular game mode with the Hellcats and another high movile tanks spam vs the brutal lack of movility in german teams. But is much better hide that unbalance behind “bad germans teams” meme.

You cand add tot he lst the Yak 9s and AU/Corusairs can carrie up to 8 bombs.
But instead of ban certain vehicles just add some kind of limitation per team or high respawn cost.

I suggested earlier that cap points should take 3 players including one who is not a light tank.

This gamemode is about controlling the map not sneakily rushing caps

You actually mentioned some things I didn’t think about, like limiting how many times you can spawn with the same vehicle. Because I like I said, I played Germany I never thought how the other team felt with a never ending tiger reinforcements line. That definitely is something to be done. But if this mode will be the new main mode or a flagship mode, you can’t ban vehicles. But certainly there should be some time for defenders to position. I think that can be fixed by making them spawn closer (like way closer) Obviously some quick puma can go and just scout them all or snipe while they reposition, but I think Germany’s weakness is that it doesn’t exactly excel at light tanks, so it won’t be devastating.

Mode is ok, Not keen on spending SL to spawn however would like to see it in action with higher br’s as well maybe up to 8.3 - 8.7

you can have a system like with sim battles where only certain vehicles are allowed to participe so that you can limit the player’s choice

well i have been killed 1 or 2 times by a yak but the rest of the time it was either fw190, pucaras or do335
but planes should not be allowed in this gamemode, people can’t really camp cause the battlefield change as soon as you capture an objective

Very fun but needs some tweaking. Defenders should start on the point. I was driving to the point in my Tiger one match and died instantly to a flanking T55E1. That point couldn’t get defended that game.

It’d be great to see that map leave WT and never come back. It’s the worst map in the whole game.
