yeah, my experience was mostly against germany.
Definitely not a random matchmaker is it
It’s already almost an auto win for the defending side, especially if it’s Germany defending. Attackers can only really win the A fight by spamming smoke shells and doing a yolo charge.
On attacker side as germany we always win.
On defendign side as Germany we always win.
Not sure how much I’m swinging my win rate as I am getting a very good KD in this mode
Not at all. Results are not shown in your service record.
Its an awesome mode, i just wish there were multiple BR brackets. Even like 2.3-3.3.
This is getting repetitive becaus rthe same countries are defending and attacking each time
Thanks to this mode im enjoying playing Germany again. No op CAS spam since minute one and not hordes of light tanks can exploit the brutal lack of movility in Germany.
I hope Gaijin leave this as permanent mode and expand with more BR and maps.
would be nice to be able to defend with germany though
Oh hell nah.
I think the inability to catch up to the fiught is a huge issue that needs to eb sorted before the next itteratin
i don’t get why it cost you guys SO MUCH to get a team to play your gamemodes, because the problems with this mode are so fucking obvious that its amazing how they are LIVE on the 1st place. (you guys already tested this mode years ago)
The far spawn for defenders preventing em to reach the cap zone and fight, the spawnkill areas where you have no cover, the fact that they just need 10 seconds to capture, etc
In the end, it just wasn’t a very popular mode. They’d be crazy spending any effort trying to make it better with a prime time wait queue like that.

They know they gotta do something with the stagnation and negative sentiment regarding the current standard gamemodes.
So they should honestly just imrpove it and yeet it in the random ground battle rotation, maybe even replacing one of the standard gamemodes (the latter is not going to happen, but a dude can dream).
Oh hell yeah. Better than most of the maps currently in rotation.
It’s nice to see them trying new modes but I gotta be honest, this one is really imbalanced. It’s very heavily biased towards either Germany or the defending team. I only saw Germany lose once and that was when they were attackers.
I really just wish this spawn system would be implemented into regular battles. I don’t understand why that’s so evil to ask for.
Played 17 matches, so I think I gave it a fair shot, all allies (US or RU). Ended up as 14 defenses, 3 attacks (RB).
In a squad with 1-3 others went 5-4. Soloing it, went 2-6. Attack I went 1-2, Defense I went 6-8.
Of the 14 defenses, 0-3 were on Port Novo (along with my one offensive win so I never saw the defense win this one). Volo Allies had one attack, which lost; 4-3 on defense. Maginot Allies had one attack, which lost; 2-2 on defense.
So, the so-what would be, squadding gave you a significant advantage (and it was definitely fun to run a little event within the squadron around it on Saturday). No one could defend Port Novo as designed. Germany attacking on Volo or Maginot often was a fair fight, but in defense they were solid. So out of 6 possible game options in RB, attacker or defender on three maps, really only 2 of the 6 could be considered balanced.
The reason these events probably should be short is because by the third day everyone will figure out the meta and play into it. In this case it ended up being quite pro-German, and Novo in particular ended up being a balance disaster (I think that’s largely the position of the second defensive spawn point, which as mentioned was too far back to permit buying any time contesting the B cap and after you lose B it’s a snowball to the end).
The fact that Allies overwhelmingly played defense suggests German players were already becoming more plentiful in queue, so they got the side with more players more often.
Given that Germany was on the offense so much, I do kinda wonder what a 1.7-3.7 version of this would have been like. Probably a Puma-fest, but I think it would have been fun to try too, and would have been more consistent with the early-war “Germans on the offensive” feel the matchmaking balanced ending up forcing on them, which didn’t really go with their later-war tank set. :)
I liked that the games were only 15-20 min (5 spawns both sides plus a possible plane was the right call), and that the matchmaking was “mostly” historic, but without excluding minor nations if you wanted to give them a go. Germany also benefited from some specific hard-to-acquire non tech-tree vehicles quite a bit (VFW, PakWagen, Pucara), whereas no other nation had anything significantly OP by way of premiums compared to what they had in tech tree… made a difference. All in all, glad they brought it out again, but there’s nothing here that’s going to replace or even significantly challenge the random battles experience.
I really like it and hope it will get permenant. Even the BR is good.
Don’t get why so much hate here.
Well Done.
Only thing i would criticize is that its only 3 days available.
VFW is a big chunky rock with a good reload.
It’s good in that mode, but i would not say it’s OP.
With Pakwagen you mean the PakPuma? Pakwagen is the Sd.Kfz. 251/22. I bet you didn’t face that thing ;-)
PakPuma i don’t remember to see once in that mode to be honest.
Pucara is definetly OP.
I guess this is it, then. Back to the bottom drawer until we get another test in three years. Bummer tbh
Used it a fair bit myself. Excellent flanker to cover the opposite ridgeline if you were defending on Maginot, since that was the one flanking avenue available to the attacking team that wasn’t massively exposed to fire from the entrenched defenders overlooking A.
The density of players in a small location also meant you could earn SP super quickly, which allowed you to hop into the Pucarà way earlier than otherwise if CAS was needed.
The way I would go about it is simply add it to the rotation of mission types. So when playing ground modes you now get Conquest/Domination/Battle/Advance.
This way you get (in GRB) the same open MM, the same BR system with quantitative MM and limit to one backup per vehicle, significantly ameliorating the narrow meta issue this mode has had. Of course you would need to iron out other kinks, like spawn placements, and figure out what impact planes would have without the hiked SP cost.
By just adding it to the other mission types you also prevent people queueing up on “the stronger side” since barely 1 match out of 4 will be Advance and the allocation of nations to attacker/defender side will be unpredictable.
But I doubt it’s going to happen, unfortunately.
