ASEAN Founders Aviation Sub-Tree

The funny thing is. The thai air line announcemt says nowhere that thailand is a japenese sub tree.
So i cant even ask mods about if they specialy gonna with hold the chinese vehicles.
For all we know its still a canada or australia right now

from the Chinese devblog:

The addition of the F-5E to the Japanese tech tree in this log does not represent the direction of game development. At the same time, we will continue to pay attention to player feedback on this vehicle and avoid controversial decisions in the future.

that last line is clearly a reference to the shitshow that went down here a couple of weeks back when the leaks starts popping up

as long as its not controversial then it will go forward, and its not so yeah

I think you are looking too hard into subtext that isn’t there. By that logic BeNeLux isn’t a subtree for France because they didn’t outright say it in that blog either. The language of the two are incredibly similar.

Just learn some history, those countries really having bad histories with your country much recent than they with Japan. They not pro-western for no reason that why China TT will not get those ASEAN founder countries

Guys remember this is the aviation topic please stay on topic. If you would like to discuss ground please go to the appropriate topic.

I’m someone who has all air trees in some form and my most recent initiative for a ground tree is China, as an appreciator of the extensive history of some of these Asian countries and as a lover of both Japanese and Chinese trees ingame, I think the founder ASEAN nations to Japan would be the most ideal, specially Indonesia and Singapore on top of Thailand with the occasional vehicle from Philippines and Malaysia as long as it’s western such as the F/A-18D.

As for China I think the right way forward would be to continue with the addition of Pakistani vehicles as well as other countries like Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia to name the bigger ones.

People saying things such as China lacking thrust vectoring Flankers and whatnot, China operates the Su-30MKK and Su-35S on top of their own domestic Flankers which have better avionics and missiles and they can get even more options for both air and ground from some of the countries I mentioned which can bolster them very well, a few examples below:

Laos
• T-72B1MS
• T-55
• Yak-130
• MiG-21
• Mi-17

Mongolia:
• Strela 10

Cambodia
• L-39

Myanmar
• T-72S
• AML-90
• BRDM-2MS
• Su-30SME
• MiG-29SM
• Yak-130

Pakistan
• Al Zarrar
• T-80UD
• Mirage III
• Mirage 5
• F-16AM MLU
• F-16C Block 52+

And that’s without factoring in a possible North Korean subtree which would give them a few tanks but also jets such as Su-7, Su-25, MiG-23 and MiG-29.
I think western equipment in China is already plenty enough with the Taiwanese branch giving them options like the F-16 and Mirage 2000 recently and for Japan, Eastern jet options should be limited. Things such as the F-15SG have no business in the Chinese tree when China can already get Flanker variants which are competitive counterparts to a Strike Eagle.

pakistan has some decent planes across the tiers as well

  • North American T-6G Texan
  • Supermarine Spitfire Mk VIII
  • Hawker Tempest Mk.II
  • Hawker Sea Fury
  • Handley Page Halifax B.VI
  • Supermarine Attacker Type 538
  • Canadair CL-13B Sabre
  • Shenyang F-6 (with AIM-9)
  • Chengdu F-7 Variants (FT-7, tested F-7M, F7MP, F-7P, F-7CP, F-7PG)
  • Chengdu J-10CE
  • other JF-17s Variants (JF-17A/B/C Block 1/2/3)

They sure do, I just didn’t mention all of them or my post would turn into a newspaper, anyways thanks for adding that on top of my examples. To add more on my end I really love both trees and I wouldn’t say I’m particularly biased towards one or the other but we need content that’s more in line with the trees’ own essences if you know what I mean, it’s why I believe in case of Indonesia getting added to Japan I don’t think their Flanker should go there, and if it does then maybe as an event or squadron jet in the future

I don’t see the aversion to having flankers only in the JP tree. Sweden has Finnish MiGs, Italy has Hungarian MiGs, China has F-16s and Mirages. Personally I would rather see the Su-30MKM and MiG-29N since they have some unique features and weapons, but I don’t think the tree should have some arbitrary ban from having any eastern tech. Especially when Japan was seriously considering and only a few signatures away from operating flankers themselves.

Oh yeah I don’t mean it’s a ban per se but a little pointless imo when they have western counterparts, I just don’t think they fit with the themes that’s all but I think they should be added as event or squadron jets instead

I think if only 1 should be added, it should be the MKM since it has a lot of western weapons on a Flanker airframe. There def shouldn’t be all the different Flanker variants that Indonesia operated like the S, SK, SKM, MK2, then throw in the Malay ones on top of that.

Exactly, there are too many Flankers and I think just adding them willy nilly isn’t the way to go

Malaysia has both Aermacchi MB-339AM and CM, idk if they are different in terms of armament compared to Italian A and CD though.

MB-339CM

Spoiler

We haven’t found proper proof that the Malaysian CM can also be (live) armed, for AM we’ve picture evidence, so far.

There is also quite a few aircraft that Myanmar operated you forgot to list

  • Soko G-4 Super Galeb
  • Spitfire LF Mk.IX’s (Ex IDF)
  • Percival Provost T.53
  • Sea Fury FB.11: Though this can be just a unlockable skin for the Pakistani Sea Fury
  • A-5IIIK: Comparable to the A-5C though it uses different loadouts
  • F-7IIK
  • MTX-1A: Domestically built Burmese Trainer aircraft with COIN/CAS aircraft that resembles the CJ-6

Thanks for sharing, didn’t know about the Spitfire and Sea Fury honestly, but as I said, I didn’t list all of them or it’d turn into a newspaper

Hey all. I’m guessing I may be a bit off here but the A-7E (USN and RTAF) should be getting mavericks (2x 65F/G) and AIM-9L. Far as I know it never had 9Gs in Thai service as Thailand never got them. ( And the US one, in the current config, was used used even in '91 with up to AIM-9M!)
It would be another irrelevant plane for air RB as it currently stands ( and it really is in the US tree too) and wouldn’t be a hugely good one in GRB either. The matchmaker around it has changed way too much for it to have a good fighting chance.
