Are there any ways me feel less guilty when playing CAS in GRB

I just started playing GRB a couple of months ago and was never a fan of getting bombed or bombing someone. My lineup would usually just consist of 3 tanks and either 1 or 2 spaa, no planes. But recently ive decided that maybe its time to give CAS gaming a try as it is apart of the game.

Right now im playing 4.7 britain and the plane that im about to try cas gaming is with the 1.0 BR V-156-B1 dive bomber. I figured that this is the best plane at this BR to make me feel less guilty since the flight performance is shit and the gun is shit so i figured id be easy prey for Spaa and other fighters.

For those who deeply hate CAS how do you feel about taking out tanks by plane yourself.

It’s a do as I say, not as I do situation. I get great pleasure in destroying tanks with CAS, but I don’t want to be CAS’d myself. No need to feel guilty, you’re giving people an incentive to bring SPAA.

I just dont revenge bomb. Of course if that person is spawn camping or something, then i will.

I mean as long as you’re not just kamikaze revenge bombing there’s nothing to feel bad about

i don’t normally do it i dont play planes in ground realistic battles. ive done few matches with the duck for fun but apart from that i just play ground vehicles in ground battles.

I make an exception for when people are sitting in those cheese spots that you see in those YouTube War Thunder tutorials. They watch these videos to get tips of where to position themselves, and then they’ll sit in that spot and not move all game. So a bomb is a good reminder that this is the age of mobile warfare.

my poor child, it does get better don’t worry.

I hate being killed by certain types of CAS, Helicopters, any American 2000lbs bomb bus fighter, any stratosphere guided-bomb player or by a 50mm ME-262 abuser. If your air kill took real skill instead of being reliant on OP vehicles, high explosive yields or being at an uncounterable range I hate you

I recommend if you want to CAS but not in a scummy way to do the following:

Play a fighter with limited CAS ability, means you need to try harder to get ground kills however as you are more centred around dogfighting you play a far more valuable role for your team, kill the enemy CAS before it gets a chance.

I mostly stick to the BRs of 6.7-8.0 Britain as this has the perfect mix of good ground vehicles to play and my favourite CAS plane in the game, the Spitfire mk24.

I quite frequently base rush to make sure I can spawn the spitfire as its 20mm guns can top attack almost every tank and shred them apart on the proviso you arent scared to dive fast and barely miss the ground, you have admittedly crap bombs but you get three of them which are a 60% chance of a kill with a direct hit, High risk and skill for high rewards.

The best bit is that literally nothing can beat you in a dogfight in the thing, only the SU9 can ignore you because its an under tiered really fast jet so needs not to turn. Everyone else is praying for a Gepard or ZSU to get you off of them.

90% of my stats in the mk24 are from ground however an ace in ARB is very easy to pull off too.

So what I do is literally not give a flying fuck what other people think and play the game as I enjoy it.

I like flying my planes in GRB so ill keep doing it and I dont feel the slightest guilt over it even though I dont like being bombed either.

our answers could not be further opposite from each other lmao.

“I wish to be noble about the ordeal” vs “IDGAF ill watch them seethe”

Honestly. imo, CAS isnt all that bad until you reach 10.0+ At which point SPAA doesnt stand a chance. At such a low BR, the MGs on the Roof of tanks do a good enough job most of the time.

But Id just recommend playing CAP (combat air patrol) just as often as you CAS if you are feeling guilty, and if you are in something that does both fairly well like the Typhoon (the prop one), go for the enemy aircraft first and then drop your bombs.

Become enlightened and be aerial anti-CAS

WT is originally a plane game
GRB has always got planes
GRB is literally Combined
To spawn a plane you pay ~600sp, which is the sp of 3 tanks continuously + 1 AA/TD
For top AG ammo it takes ~900sp, I’m not calculating how many things one may spawn.
Skilled AAA of 90sp counters you when you cas close (within ww2 range)
&c.

Planes deserves to kill as they are Streak Bonus.
You are not spawning at the beginning of the game with 100sp and faces no threat.

I genuinely think the exact opposite.

CAS in props is easy. SPAAs are easy to avoid. You barely have to think about whats on the ground as long as you stay away from the enemy groind spawn

CAS at ~8.0-9.7 is harder, radar gun SPAAs can hit some accurate shots over the whole ground map so require some forethought.

Over 10.0 requires some serious fancy flying and constant concentration at all times or SPAA has a pretty easy time swatting you, especially 11.0+.

Doesn’t Britain have the biggest non nuclear payload, on game, but the 2000lb bombs bother you lol?

try to kill other cas just like Iam a spaa fly in the sky

Yeah, I can see that angle.

My logic though is this.

From 1-9 ish. 99% of the time you need to get close to the thing you are attacking to use guns, bombs or rockets and so, you are forced to enter within range of any SPAA (or even a tanks roof 50 cal) , especially around the 8-9 BRs where you have radar gudied SPAAGs and IR SAMs.

Past about 10.0 though, you have stuff like the Jaguar GR1A that can happily bomb with GBUs outside of the range of most SPAA and you are alerted to being attacked most of the time by your RWR and so can defend more easily.

At 11.0+ it depends on what vs what.

Su-34 or Rafale vs ADATS. ADATS stands no chance at all. Tornado Gr1 vs Pantsir. Pantsir is gunna win most of the time.

Only kill Russian and US team and considering as make them taste their own medicine.

biggest by 1300kg yes

the PE8 and Lancaster are slow and sloppy and can only carry one per sortie. They are vulnerable to SPAA and any other plane in the sky.

meanwhile here’s the typical American strike fighter
AM1:
Gigantic payload, good canons and pretty nimble and fast

or the skyraider:

and the A4e:

all the benefits of big bombs with next to no tradeoffs in self defence or air offensive

Its all about accuracy. 12000lb can wipe out a huge area, but its difficult to see where there are enemies from high alt (which is often required to protect against SPAAGs) and can often be a guess as to where to drop. you are also a free kill for anything in the air.

smaller, more agile aircraft, with smaller payloads can be more deadly because they can attack with greater precision, from a lower alt and cna make multiple sorties fairly consistantly.

KInda really hoping we get a mosquito bomber with a 4k cookie at some point because that would be really fun.

What if they are an HE belt enjoyer such as myself?

Less useful but far more fun.
