Against multipathing targets the R-77 (and 77-1) and AAM-4 would be the most reliable among the modern fox3s. Nothing beats a fakour in that respect. R-27ER are decent SARHs for that too.
Derby and micas sometimes don’t even crit on hits, especially if the target is a flanker. Only drawback of the mica.
But what matters mostly is if you launched a missile from an angle as vertical as possible and their terminal velocity, the slower the missile the more it will lead into the “mirrored target” and by consequence it will explode at higher distance from the real target.

In a 1v1 vacuum with attentive players maybe. But even I often die to a fox3 shoot from longer than 6km away.
I might be distracted by another thing and don’t start notching on time, or I might extend myself at high altitude and speed, which won’t allow me to properly defend if I am a heavier jet. I might have a typhoon RWR which I can’t destinguish the range from missiles less than 10km away from me and fail to prioritise the correct angle for the most immediate threat. So… so many ways to dieeee…
Regardless, the faster the missile reaches a target, the higher your chances to get that kill
WTRTI testing gives me 21 degrees per second for Su-27 at 550kph. F-16A Blk. 10 will also provide the same 21 degrees per second turn rate at 550kph. Measurements take at low speeds with WTRTI will indicate Su-27 has turn rate of 18.9 degrees per second while actually doing math based on the heading indicator will indicate 21 degrees per second. Statshark indicates 19.5 degrees per second.

not really fox 3 are very hard to get rid off
but if you get hit behind 6km it obliviously means you didn’t manage to confuse the missile. which a competent player in a good plane would do (which means its not reliable, lets say 1 of 5 players is very competent which would instantly mean 1 out of 5 missiles would miss not counting other factors )
i cant count how many times i have seen rafale or gripen players just pull a vertical drop a few chaff and multiple fox 3 just miss even from close range
I didn’t say I couldn’t do it, on a typhoon or rafale I can often reliably notch fox3s shoot at me from 5km or even less, depending on conditions. But that doens’t mean I won’t die sometimes to longer range shots.
well if you can pretty reliably notch fox3 from 5km or less it means the missile is unreliable from the launchers Pov
in particular from non fox3 users, fox3 is seen has an auto win button so if they launch 4 amraams they expect 4 kills(unless it gets stolen).

Yeah, like I said, the su-27 SEP=0 line is underestimated in statshark across all speeds essencially. For the F-16s is fine for medium to high speeds, except it is massively overestimated at slower speeds from what I’ve seen.
Things aren’t so black and white in a normal match are they? Does every IR missile get flared in 10.7 for example? Its just a press of a button and people still die to them left and right.

With a negative kdr with some of these jets you must be eating fox3s left and right no? Or maybe you really perfectly evade every missile over 10km away by crashing your jet? I wonder.
