For reference, here is the order i will put the shots from best to worst.
Hit the turret side
Wait for him to push
Hit lower side
Hit upper side.
At the range you are at, it should be an easy shot.

and by taking the shot that was not a guaranteed kill you put sourself in an even worse position
I will admit that i take my fair share of shots similar to this where i think their side is less angled than it actually is.
Except it was a guaranteed kill as we can see from… the three protection hitmaps all at an angle even worse than what was actually taken in-game.
If you really don’t think a PCO-50 should pen an 80mm plate at that angle under 300m I don’t know what to say dude, we are at an impasse.
Never trust those colors. They do not take into account bounce chance (outside of 100% chance)
They do? I saw it when experimenting with angles for the screenshots.
Looking at your pictures of extreme angles, those are well above 50% bounce chance yet it is still telling you “you got this, no problem.”
I should mess around and see if i can figure out when it changes from green.
Im checking now. It seems to say the round will bounce once the chance of a bounce reaches at least 60%.
The green appears to be only for assuming it wont bounce. Turns yellow when the round pen is 10mm or less than the armor value. ex: (round pen is 240 and armor value is 230
From these two pictures this is the most accurate I can get:
the AOA here is 48deg, +/- 1-2 deg for error. PCO-50 has 0% chance for ricochet at 48deg, 50% @ 63deg.
so this is greater angle, at the exact spot(2nd sideskirt, connection point to sideplate), still showing just 54deg. I don’t know how to do the maths to calculate that percentage, but bare in mind this is still being lenient with the angle. The chance must be between zero and unbelievably low.
For me, yours looks less angled. Just my opinion.
I did a second try with more lenient angling. Also worth noting that hitting the exact spot where the killcam showed is in my favour more than further towards the engine block.
54 will be about 23.3% chance to bounce.
0% is 48 and 50% is 63 degrees.
63-48=15. divide 15 degrees by the percent difference (50). 15/50=0.3 For every 0.3 degree past the 0% chance, you increase the bounce chance by 1%.
How did you work this out?
e: got chatgpt working, hold on lmao
e2: ok, chance is apparently 20% at 54 degrees. 13% at 52(very generous with the angling).
I edited it into the last reply.
I think at the end of the day, you got gaijined by poor rng.
Even if it was 1% chance, that chance is still there.
It still seems crazy to me that the bounce chance is that high from that angle. I have shot way higher angles vs similar armour and never witnessed a bounce like that.
yep looks like it, been getting gaijined more and more often recently
It happens to the best of us. I would still take this over the armor overlap though. The side skirts on those german panthers will eat my rounds for lunch.
and then the panther will kill you by shooting through your drive sprocket and side plate at an 80 degree angle
