Excluding Rafale and EF-2000, which are modern planes, I find most double delta planes non meta.
Delta wing advantages are high AOA, high and maneuverability. Somehow, none of that applies on normal speed.
Double delta only show a distinctive advantage when it comes to dogfighting performance at 600 something kph; the speed where A-10s and Su-25s fight at!!
This is the speed where minor manuverable can cause a stall; Just look at the chart from statshark; from 737kph on wards, the F-16A shows a way superior manuverability.
Just got out turned by a harrier in a Mirage IIIC (from about 800kph) Not even able to out turn him in one circle, so we got down and dirty and kept turn fighting eventually he has the energy advantage which I’m not gonna deal with because harrier thrust is insane.
Out maneuvered by Harrier award
Violation of Energy-maneuverability theory award (No manuverablity and no energy retention)
Bad engine award
No flares award
Sounds like you bled all your speed and harrier was able to keep its energy and use its engine thrust at lower speeds to gain his advantage. Delta winged aircraft maneuverability are generally good at maneuvering and high AoA but all of that turning sacrifices energy and has a high drag. Once you’ve lost all your energy you can’t effectively maneuver and you become trapped.
You’re comparing vehicles that are decades apart. The Draken was taken out of service before the first model F-16 entered service. Something that is reflected by their BR placements.
But, this doesn’t change anything about the fact that the Drakens are amazing in game. And I assume the same goes for most of the other delta, or double delta (I believe the Draken is the only example of one in game), wing planes in the game.
