Are console players at a permanent disadvantage?

As I have reached 12.7 in ground and the last EF in air both free to play why does it feel like everything that doesnt play on console (I do on PS5) is so much better at anything?

Be it manouvering the planes in any direction and still launching missiles or gun me down during turns with near no issues during it.

Be it moving and angle the tanks at any given moment instantly without needing to look around and think. React to anything on the move aswell as know where you are around corners or even buildings and keep accuracy at over a kilometer with no infraction whereas I on console need to stop and aim carefully which often just lets me die as my opponent shoots now first.

I also heard others talk of hearing the enemy coming? But thats a thing I with my TVs loudspeakers also don’t think i am able to replecate either.

I am aware console players get their little follow mechanic on enemy planes in ground rb but that really isnt that helpfull given you still need to lead anyways and are in no way guaranteered a hit

Is there anything I on console do that makes me just so much slower than all of them and less precise by default?

Without buying anything like a pc or headphones or anything can I even compete at the same level as pc players?

Whats your guys opinion?

As far as i am aware (i don’t play console); you should be able to connect a mouse and keyboard to your console and remove any disadvantages you get from having a controller.

Another thing might be the refresh rate, most TV’s are locked to 60Hz and going from 60Hz to anything above 120Hz is a massive difference in how smooth games feel. A PS5 can do 120fps but if your TV only outputs 60Hz it’s going to look and feel like 60fps.

Headphones does a lot for situational awareness in ground, you can hear the direction of sounds a lot better but they won’t really make you play better in situations where you already know where the enemy is.

Can confirm as a PS5 player

the 120 FPS/Hz are only on PS5 Pro as thats the only PS which can currently select its quality Mode and its FPS which are conected to it

For air, come play air sim.

No mouse aim advantage at air sim. With a controller that has good trigger sensitivity, you’ve even got an advantage over MnK due to rudder control (ItsButters and ROKSTAR (+headtracking and rudder pedals) are two very good Sim players I know who fly with Xbox controllers).

Here’s some videos on how to get set-up in sim.

You won’t regret it. No more getting clicked at by someone with a mouse from a kilometer out while using stick controls to get your own nose on target.

well thats what mouse and keyboard are used to. Also settings allow sharper turns on keyboard, and mouse control of the line of sight. They sure give advantage, thus why most shooters dont allow (or make it by choise) crossplay between PC and console.

ofc u are in disatvantage.

This is just you gimping yourself, you can always get headphones to solve problems with hearing/locating enemies

You have literal X-ray against aircraft without needing a radar/irst lock.
That is pretty powerful, is this still available with kbm? If yes, then that is definitely a significant advantage.

If you’re just going to sit on your couch and play the game that way, you will be at a significant disadvantage in most game modes.

I highly suggest getting a keyboard and mouse, especially for air RB.
It makes aiming much easier and you’re actually able to set reasonable keybinds.
Headphones are a must for ground battles.

You should be able to get some relatively cheap that’ll work with your console no issue as far as I know

Kbm? Whats that refereing to?

I actually don’t feel disadvantaged in air, the only problem I have is high tier jets and the volume of keybinds required and I could probably close that gap if I bothered to spend more time trying different sets for radar/HMD control.

Ground is kind of a lost cause so I don’t worry about it

Keyboard Mouse

Have i been playing the game wrong then for 7 years?

But even then it shouldnt be a requirement to play the game on console right? Like all other games i own also work without mouse and keyboard. Is it really necessary to have these things to play this game?

As a high class Xbox player, I use a controller, as I’m a disabled veteran and my right hand is damaged.

But headset for sure

they can use M+K just as PC can use a controller. the framerate difference is not that deep no matter what people claim (anything above 120fps is deep into deminishing returns) and plug headphones into your controller so that you can hear (when sound works)

This i get and see no issue with, radars can also lock things behind trees.

If this is true then that is more than likely a bug that needs to be reported.

Which is just factually incorrect.

The only disatvantage you should have is input delay and framerate/refresh rate

It’s significantly easier to pinpoint the direction that audio sources are coming from.
Means you can react to sound cues better

As an Xbox player I recommend mouse and keyboard for air realistic on console. The dead zone on the controller makes flying very difficult.

Dead zone is customizable…

Why is it that the plane’s motion is really jerky, yet when I use a mouse it glides smoothly exactly as I want it?

not sure about Playstation.

But with Xbox you can link your account so you can play on PC. Which gives even more advantages like:

  • You can fully customize your graphics
  • You get better FPS (IF you have a good PC)
  • And you can get custom sights and other things
