Ardennes map changes

Question for my fellow Ground Assault players: what do you think about the changes to Ardennes? From what I’ve seen so far it’s not positive. The bot spawns to the south and north are now covered by ridges, the spawns west of the base can shoot down into the base (which is already bad on Sinai) or across to anybody placed to the east and southeast.

Taking out the north and south packs from the base isn’t possible any longer, instead I got hit by tanks which took me 15 seconds to see because they shot through the forest. Yes, I know, trees don’t exist for the bots, but that’s beside the point. I’m not yet saying that Ardennes has become as bad as Sinai, but I might get there after a few more attempts.

What’s your stance on this?

If you are in a tank with poor gun depression (see almost all Russian tanks) you will have a very difficult time with the modified map.

Removing the easy spawn-kills was a positive step, but not being able to shoot the bots without fully exposing your vehicle is a problem … since … they NEVER MISS.

Will have to try it sometime with American tanks that have good gun depression.

Average assault mode AI literally hitting my 1 pixel weakspot while im going mach jesus over the battlefield

And the bot is probably in a tank with no stab, going full speed over lumpy terrain.

I also love how the bots seem to drive even when on fire - I never see them stop, put out the fire, and repair (like we need to)

I also never see them stop with a broken transmission and engine either lmao

I have seen that when I get a critical (replay shows engine going black). But of course they repair pretty quickly…

Oh, when you shoot out their engines and transmissions, they do stop. Since Tusk Force Mozdok keeps surprising me in this regard, taking out transmissions of Panthers, Tigers and Tiger IIs with shots to the turret. Given that the transmission sits in the front, the radioman and driver placed to the left and right of it also should take damage, but don’t.

I have the feeling they made transmission health like 1/10th of what it was before, i annihilated a IS2s transmission with a mediocre 3.3 Shermans shell to the cupola lol

This morning I took out a T-34/85 transmission and the tank commander (nothing else) with a shot to the front. How this is possible, I don’t know. To my knowledge the transmission in most Soviet tanks is the rearmost part, behind the engine.

Its better than it was. At least with the base sunk into the ground, you mostly can’t get shot as soon as you spawn in now.
But now you spend/waste a lot of time driving back and forth to the new rim/ridges. I think it’s just going to take learning the new spots and it will be better (more winnable) & less frustrating.

really annoying the small dip on the north side of the base isn’t a safe spot anymore, you will get shot in the back by the south wave as it moves across and sometimes immediately from spawns on the flank

haven’t played it too much from the ground to experiment more, just been exploding M1s with Zunis in the meantime
