ARB map designs

I have been playing low tier ARB and some maps are very bad especially the maps without runways for a naval plane it is all good but planes like the P 38, P 51 or P 47 can’t land on aircraft carriers easily so if you run out of ammo or get damaged you just have to crash which is not good for the team.

The Pacific maps? They tried to make things immersive and they did, but there’s no trimmed matchmaking while a runway there is just… weird. Considering death matches meta now maybe there’s no need to change…? idk how if there’s going to be one.

fwiw, it is possible to land P-51s on carriers. Just make sure you’re aligned with the direction of travel and belly land. It’s kinda stupid, but it works.

Fair argument though, much as I loved pacific maps when I played RB. It’d prolly be a good idea to include a risky forward airfield by default.

Is there something changed?

I avoid carrier landings at all, but last time I’d have to I fall through the carrier while belly landing.

Might depend on the map. Bug report if it happens, though because that’s not intended behaviour.

Your joking…
I’m done with this bug report site. I don’t waste my time for nothing.
I reported dozens of bugs, most of them no answer at all over YEARS or closed without comment.

The basic rule on playing on any Pacific map without an airfield for land-based fighters was always to take enough fuel and to avoid any kind of damages in the first place. Actually quite immersive.

Technically seen all you have to do is play very cautious and try to get asap above 6 km - up to BR 5.3 no JP plane is able to catch you. I manage to outrun the Ki-44 spam even in a 3.3 Hellcat (u need MEC and use your WEP wisely). The premium Ki-44 seems to be faster at 8-9 km but their pilots are imho not aware of this.

Try to avoid Hellcats outside peak times - it is very demanding to stay alive and have a relevant game impact - you will get uptiered in every case just based on the B7A2 /SB2C spam in JP teams.

Main thread for US planes is imho the JP P-51 C- but they are rare and the Hellcat beats them in a turnfight. P-47s are way faster at very high alt and MEC is less complicated - whilst the their late war pure AP-iT is far superior to the Hellcat belt.

Some recommendations for US players:

  1. Sideclimb excessively after spawn - in a 90 degree angle away from the center. Your team will in 60-80% of the cases stall climb into SB2Cs and B7A2s and you will play 1 vs their remaining team.
  2. Try to identify their best pilot/plane combo and focus on them later and keep an eye on them - try to keep the best player of your team alive (if existing and/or possible).
  3. Use the very high contrail alt of ~ 6.500 meters on these maps to your advantage - either extend fast below it or continue climbing away from the center. Contrails are visible for at least 40 km…
  4. Try to monitor the battle (even if difficult due to 25-40 km distance) and activate a useless 5 minute order to block blind hunt as soon as you see that your last teammate is about to die - just watch the scoreboard.
  5. Turn into the center if you feel safe and pick highest targets in high speed BnRun runs.
  6. Open fire at 2 km in a head-on, dodge their fire and try to get them when they dodge - most of my kills result from hits whist they dodge.
  7. Play the long match - i won dozens of matches between 22-25 minutes, most Ki-44s use min fuel.

Good luck with your matches.

I saw in the last years dozens of land-based fighters simply falling through the deck (i watched the replays) on both sides - but after they changed the maps (airspawn for all) i have not focused on this issue as usually US teams are dead before they can reach their carriers.

Same here.

Fun fact - yesterday a P-47 D-25 tanked 6 20 mm Type 99 Mod 2 hits and was still able to outrun me on the deck (B7A2). Today i completely outturned a Yak-3 in a Pyoerremski - and i scored 8 (!!!) 12.7 mm hits without any effect on him - gaijin’s RNG manipulations / adjustments are becoming ridiculous.

Have a good one!
