In videogames as in real life, structure can provide motivation even if you don’t particularly enjoy the structure. A handy example is the dailies and specials of the battle pass. Having a goal-oriented framework changes how you interact with anything quite significantly. Perhaps this is more immediately obvious to me because I have ADHD and so one of my problems has always been figuring out the balance between intrinsic vs extrinsic motivation to get stuff done.
You may not be very interested in the vehicle you get from an event, but grinding out means that if you change your mind in the future, you always have the option to play it. And it’s a good source of dopamine to collect stuff (how many “collection” hobbies have existed in the history of humanity, even before videogames?). And besides it’s all set up in stages that each come with smaller individual rewards… you get what I’m saying.

It usually take 5-10 minutes between them cutting the server and the update being pushed.
