Dude, you’ve been doing that to me the entire thread. Pot, meet Kettle.
Update: it took 10 days to get the F-105 using a combination of the B-57 and F-5C. I lost more money than I gained while spading the B-57 but whatever. There are 8 more planes at Rank VII. So 8x10=80 days for the tree, assuming I can play 3 games a day in Air RB and maintain positive income. This does not include spading the Rank VI aircraft. I still think that is ridiculous and there is no other game that I am aware of that takes this long to advance.
I won’t be playing US air again until the sale when I can buy the Rank VI aircraft at 50% off. Then I’ll start on Rank VII.
It is offtopic but, wondering how the game specially AAB/ARB would be better if top tier stuck at there.
Ok, trying to help you by explaining the different actions that keep you from progressing is now “dictating how you play”. Ok, take 4 years to make it to the F-16s, see if I care.
The most annoying thing is you’re taking my advice, and you have the nerve to be like that. I was the one who told you to use the B-57 to get the F-105D. You should stop taking my advice and not use the F-105D, I wouldn’t want to “dictate how you play”.
I should have said 40% less. If I shoot a plane and get Severe Damage and someone else steals it I only get an assist. That only gives me 60% of the total. Its even less if I only manage to crit a plane, then I only get 40% of any reward if the plane gets stolen later.
That isn’t how that works… If you get a severe damage then you get 80% of the rewards for the kill. You don’t get an assist because it is technically a kill anyway.
I felt I had to give it a chance to see your side. I honestly didn’t think it would work with my skill level, however I still lost money and that playstyle got boring. I prefer Arcade but you were adamant I only play Realistic. I should be able to advance reasonably at any game mode which was the point of the thread. The advancement is not reasonable for the average player.
Grind still takes way to long. Especially Ground Vehicles.
I need like over a million RP just to get like 3 Vehicles at Top Tier and if i had a Nuke in every single Match which doesn’t even give 10k RP in Realistic with Premium at Top Tier it would still take me over a hundred Matches all with nuke and Premium.
This is an extreme case - shouldn’t take you that long. But I do ask - why does it matter? War Thunder is a game that is here to stay. For example: I unlocked the MiG-9 in 2012, it’s still in my hanger, it’s still usable, it’s still in the current game. Everything I unlocked in something like NBA 2k11/12/13 is long gone, and the games are long dead - replaced by a game every year with minimal changes and more micro-transactions. So again, so what? Enjoy that journey. The grind is the addictive element of this game. It’s why we’re playing this, instead of something like Battlefield or CoD. The only requirement for this game, and a requirement that supports the developers, is a premium account. Grab a yearly annual during the sales. Premium vehicles are optional. And yeah, I get it, some people only want to play this or that vehicle, well that’s life, can’t always have what you want, when you want it. Learn to appreciate the journey.
Severe dmg is 80% of the reward.
You can still get 100% if you just continue to engage?
Yea, of course it’ll work for your skill level, it is the same exact thing that you do with the Ju-288C, which is why I suggested it.
Yes, making large gains in progression requires a change of playstyle and it isn’t always the most exciting or profitable.
Go back to arcade then, you wanted to know how to progress faster and you progress faster in realistic. Air RB has different rules than the rest of the game and you can leverage that for progression.
You sir are not an average player just like I am not an average player. I can say with confidence that very few players play one game and then wait 4 days for a repair on vehicles they want to prgress quickly with. Especially after the economy updates, and even more so if they have premium account status. You are the opposite extreme from the “grindy” players.
Not that I’ve seen. My rewards are way down due to kill stealing. Even though the plane is no longer combat capable and is effectively a kill I don’t get the same amount of reward I used to, especially for crits. It was a mathematical way for Gaijin to increase the grind by nerfing rewards.
I meant piloting skill. I only wait for repair if I go negative because it makes economic sense to do so.
Because at some point I will be unable to physically play this game and my gaming hardware will be too expensive to replace.
It makes economic sense to take negative sl games for great leaps in progression and then use your premium Ju-288C to make that SL back very easily. The way you choose to do it is riddled with inefficiencies that are holding you back.
Except that with where I am now in the German tree, by using the Ju-288C I take a 60% hit to RP gain. That is not efficient progression. Players are on to the Ju-288C spam now anyway and I only get a base about 50% of the time before dying.
You have to maximize RP and SL gain for every single game, especially if you are never in the top 3.
It isn’t about the German tree, it is about SL gain. The Ju-288c isn’t spammed because it’s a fun plane it is spammed because it is one of the best sl grinders in game, for any skill level.
I can almost guarantee you can get to bases around 90 percent of the time if you dive hard immediately after spawning. I use my SL boosters with my Ju-288c because it is just about certain for me to get a base. I can link a replay later showing the technique if you’d like.
You don’t at all, that is one of the points of having a premium plane that gives twice the SL woth half the repair costs of similar planes. You have to pick an area to sacrifice efficiency in, otherwise you won’t make it to where you want to.

Arcade is fun for you but gives low rewards. Realistic is not fun but you can progress much faster.
-
You can play onsies and twosies and stop if you don’t gain sl (since you can’t lose any because of premium), which means you can stop your progression in 1 game. You could grind 10 games and lose some SL, and then use the Ju-288c for 10 games to balance out (and probably gain) SL.
-
You could take 3 years to hit rank 8 in aircraft because you don’t want to make changes in how you do things. You could take 3-6 months if you would change your mindset and make changes to your playstyle.
This is all your decision at the end of the day. You have to deal with the consequences of whatever those decisions are.
i grinded french air tree from almost beginning (rank 2) to mirage 2000 5f (rank 8) in 10 days, bought the premium f1c on 14th and finished sunday, i played probably 4h per day on average, by day 7 i actually only had last 2 mirages which took the longest, still a lot of work but 245 days is crazy lol
That’s literally impossible at this point unless you’re a horrible player and…
(only 12k with a premium account and 300% booster because you did very little in the match and you’re playing arcade)
And checking your stats… All you do is ground pound. You’re basically an NPC. It’s no wonder that you’re basically getting nothing. Because you also do pretty much nothing. And you mostly play arcade.
That makes this comment of yours:
VERY insulting.
I’m over here wondering how anyone is not making SL hand over fist. They have to keep bringing out these SL loot boxes because we all have too much SL now.
