Neither of those ships were designed as counters to Queen Elizabeth.
Yeah… They were?
The Bayern class was SPECIFICALLY designed to be a Counter to the Queen Elizabeth class battleships, hence why they are basically German carbon copies of the design.
And the Nagato class were designed to be a One up of the QE design, hence the 16inch guns.
No? Lmao
Germany came to the same conclusion as Britain, since y’know, they’re both in a dreadnought arms race. Obviously they’re going to reach similar conclusions as to how to design dreadnoughts.
Japan and Britain were allied at the time, Japan was building to counter the United States. Japan may have took inspiration from Queen Elizabeth, but Nagato was not designed to counter her. She was designed to counter the 14" gun ships of the US Navy.
Honestly just want Warspite.
Eh. Bismarck’s armor layout is built for closer range fights and her modern fire control systems would beat the warspite in range. Warspite only has a chance in medium range fights and even then. The bismarck has a slightly worse belt armor but better turret armor. It’s fast and more mobile. As I dead better fire control system so even in mid range warspite only has an armor advantage and if the modernized version a bigger caliber. Btw this is what my British friend who loves the warspite said when asked wich would win in a fight.
QE has about 20 years of modernisations on the current Bayern.
And while Bayern was built after QE, it wasn’t intended to be some direct hard counter to the QE.
Are you talking about the WW2 QE?
The one commissioned in 1914
How does that have 20 years of modernization on the Bayern?
Bayern decommissioned in 1919, QE decommissioned in 1947. QE had a lot of improvements done to her over the years.
Ya but the version added in game would not be from the 1940’s. It would be the ww1 configuration like the rest. Then later on they would add the WW2 configuration when we get to WW2 BBs.
I feel like Brit mains would probably have a fit if it wasn’t in a 1940s configuration.
I don’t my Brit friend would. He would understand the balance. But I see what you mean.
Edit: He wouldn’t be mad.
Calm down dude. When they start adding 10 ships every update we can have this conversation. Be glad they add atleast something…
Well… there is your problem…
Gaijin does not own Reddit… it has nothing to do with Gaijin, and our Staff do not run it…
^ That
And yeah, sure somethings probably do not get added to the game in chronological order… but, there is a good chances a great many things will end up in game at some point…
Developers always had concerns about adding Battleships to the game due to the impact they would have, but players still wanted them and slowly the game has been made to incorporate them…
So, yeah it will be just a waiting game… I think it is safe to say that somethings will not be missed and nor go unnoticed by the Developers… so just have to stay tuned to the news and see
there are multiple QEs for that, Like Malaya, Warspite (Not many Modernisations), Barham and Valiant, and yes I am the british friend that @TEZACK27 is talking about, idk how it took me so long to find this thread
i mean add QE as 1945 config, but add the Malaya or valiant for the WW1 config
I don’t remember talking about that?
and the belt armour is probabally equivalent in thickness but in effectiveness it is likely not due to advancements in metallurgy
sure the guns are the same size, but that does not mean they are equivalent, to be properly equiavlent to the bismark we would need the KGVs or the Valiant, Though things like the Nelsons would be able to put a greater fight than the QE or R class
anyway, seriously, how do we not have the QE class yet, or even the R class, a straight up worse QE class, with most things the same with less speed (3-5 knots less depending on what you go by)
Gaijins priority probably isnt adding more bloat to naval that nobody is gonna play currently, ideally they should make naval actually playable for anyone who doesnt buy a £60 premium becuase nobody wants to slog through DD and CL gameplay which is currently just spawning in to die to a CA. Theres also the spawn issue how is it remotely fun or engaging to spawn 10km away from the enemy and instantly be shooting eachover its boring and just hinders poorly armoured CL and DDs even further.
with inferior armament, speed, control systems, and in addition at the ranges we will see in everythign but EC the turtleback armour may be an advantage, as opposed to the non turtleback designs, not to mention that there was a 25 years worth of advancements in metallurgy, Raw thickness isnt everything
