Anyone else noticed how absolutely HORRID model quality has gotten lately?

Because 131 was like 2 weeks fresh the factory and hadn’t seen a lick of combat.

And what if some of us want to imagine each match is one of the first combats of that war?

Or what if some of us want to think of our tanks as fresh arrivals for combat?

Or maybe as new replacements for the tanks lost on the previous matches?

What’s so bad about that? There are many reasons and/or explanations to fresh looking tanks.

Not every tank has to look like it’s been fighting every day for 3 years straight overseas.

I’ve already been able to show not only Iraq and Gulf War tanks looking perfectly fine, but even also WW2 ones. It’s not such an outlandish notion that a tank may not be covered in rust and missing huge chunks of paint.

It was in theatre for a month. Many tanks did not even last that long on the front, let alone were left in working order after combat. Wittman famously died hours after picking up his replacement Tiger 1. Tiger 007 was only on the front for a couple of months itself(2 months estimated).

Thank fuck for a thread like this. The new Tiger II remodel 10 months ago LAGS the shit out of my computer. I don’t understand if they decided to AI the thing. It pisses me off so bad playing 6.7 and when I’m up with germany, seeing 4 Tiger II’s just nuke my computer to 10 fps.

I don’t play in ULQ, something like mediumish graphics. But somehow this tank (and this tank from what I’ve encountered) just destroys my FPS. Is this some kind of new electronic warfare?

Once you get into battle your tank gets dirty bc of mud or snow. Even full of holes if a fragments hit you.

i’m gonna be honest, i too also prefer the used tank look, even tanks fresh from assembly lines wouldn’t look fresh after getting to Europe due to the fact they were shipped by boat so some of the paint would’ve eroded away and be chipped from the salt water, and although yes they could’ve repainted them, all that would take precedent is the allied insignia (which doubled as a gas signifier due to the paint that was used) as well as unit markings, the only other “fresh” paint that would be on there is whatever the crew puts on there, such as the IN THE MOOD text, as any other painting would keep it from getting shipped to the front lines longer as either a replacement tank (ie a tank crews previous tank was shot beyond reasonable repair lengths so was abandoned or given a temp replacer), parts tank (as done with aircraft, to have an extra tank with working pieces to take off of and put on combat ready ones when needed), or a tank of a fresh crew, its something that has been quite emersion breaking, that and how on most tanks there’s a lack of crew supplies on the outside such as sleeping bags and such, unless premium like the tech tree M4A3E2 vs the premium cobra king M4A3E2

stuff like this, of which with the M4A3s hull it also makes no sense to make them look so clean due to the fact that its layered up with sandbags, so it wouldn’t even be a frontline tank, more or less a vehicle that was used to push into towns with infantry (sandbags were there to help lower the internal sound of a MG-42 and such from ringing the inside of the hull with every impact)

The quality got better, as you can see from the BTR & Hummel examples.

Slowly fix them up and then ask Russian Federation to give you kh38mt and more r77

new models are lower detail, more performance intensive, and far less enjoyable to look at.

AND way easier to actually spot.

They are far more shiny and stand out like a sore thumb in the games environments.

and the only way to fix that really for alot of them is to buy user skins, because they tone down the shine, standard camo’s don’t.

That’s the thing, we should have the option to choose. The “camouflage condition” slider is there for a reason and is a feature I feel is wholly forgotten by Gaijin, because nowadays it feels like the effect it has is minimal. Try it on something like the new T-34-85 model and you’ll see what I mean. Ideally, that slider should do more than just make the paint look slightly rough.

You gave two models that have higher detail than two older models.
You can make any model shiny in the right light:

Which is admitting they have more detail…
You can’t create more detail from a skin, the amount of detail is going to be identical.

Also the Hummel has no shine, period.
The BTR has shine where bare metal is exposed on the worn down versions of camo, but no shine in the screenshot you provided.
The only tanks with shine in your screenshots is the T34 whose camo shows more bare metal.
Oh wow, the only shine is on bare metal:

Your own screenshots contradict your claims.

The irony of your post is peak.
You have control over how much wear your tank has… which is a good thing, player choice is a good thing.

Its locked behind premium time. Which in this day and age, with late stage capitalism garbage economys, NO ONE CAN AFFORD.

Isnt this locked behind premium

Hangar uses a different Lighting set up than actual matches.

Go look at it in a Actual match, its hideous.

Shiny as all hell, with no detail at all.

The whole point of putting it to 100% there is that is what Gaijin wants you to do with that camo installed. Even changing it to 0% condition just adds a few minor scrapes.
100% condition

0% condition

I like my tanks pristine and with clean paint too. If the tank has to look like it fell into an acid bath at 50%, at least make 100% look the part…

It’s locked at 50% degradation on free to play.
You can’t make it clean without premium, but it’s always worn without premium.
Which further disproves Heavytanker’s claims.

My Type 16 fell in for an extended period of time.

Too bad the Zimmerit on the Tiger II messes up decals now.

+1. I think gaijin needs to mess up camos more on 0% and open up that slider on free-to-play accounts
