Anyone else noticed how absolutely HORRID model quality has gotten lately?

This is simply false, the battle of Ramadi had some of the worse fighting and the US marines spearheaded the attack along with Battle of Basra, and Battle of Debecka Pass. Not to mention the main push to Baghdad.

One thing the game desperately needs is Diesel exhaust staining.

The Centurions are the same way, genuine care and attention paid to the Little details that make these things feel like REAL vehicles, and not just pristine digital tanks.

its to the point where World of Tanks is making FAKE TANKS that look more realistic, than the recent additions to WT.

But its not ALL new additions, Some of the modelers still care about the little details, the Ajax looks pretty damn good.

It was budget cuts because gemini used too many tokens during texture creation

But often vehicles don’t look that nice during wartime. Peacetime? sure

HELL, the way the Black Prince is, is why i took the time to make my own CUSTOM Canadian decoration layout and everything.

And some day i want to make a proper user skin inspired by it.

Nightmare is my baby, and she wouldn’t look right at ALL with the modern garbage shiny brand new Textures.

I want my tanks to look like battleworn beasts, beat down and still going. Not some brand new off the production line thing.

I do wonder when exactly the decline in modeling started to occur. The first couple of battle passes had decent modeling, because the Matilda hedgehog actually has modeled damage to its exhaust which is not present on other matildas. Even the TOG II has really nice modeling done to it.

Other way round. All tanks and planes should actually look brand new unless manually changed to look used via the condition slider

The TOG is still too shiny and reflective, same for the Matilda.

the Modeling is Fine, its more the textures that let them down.

Especially the Matilda Hedgehog, since it was built to be put on SHIPS, in the salty sea air.

None of the pictures you shared yourself there has the tanks with 1m wide paint chips filled with heavy rust xd

The Matilda is just shiny due to having limited pitting on the metal. Even the older Matilda III model with increased pitting is too shiny. Also any pictures taken in the hangar vs outside are going to be more shiny because the hangar has spotlights on the tank.

Here is the Matilda III with 100% condition paint.

And, again, that’s what the camouflage condition slider is for.

I want it to look like Day 1-30 of combat. You want it to look Year 4 of wartime. And both are perfectly valid and simply personal preferences.

And that’s exactly what the sliders are for.

If anything, 100% should be WAY more generous. Some tanks at 100% still look far from 100%. Most Abrams tanks are still filled with rust and paint clippings even at 100%.

I mean look at the Matilda III I just posted above. Even at 100% it looks like it has been sitting outside for like 5 years.

Unfortunately yep.

Same with some planes that look scrapyard ready

Like a Tank SHOULD, its war time. they aren’t gonna have the time to repaint it every 2 weeks.

Hell even brand new Tiger 2s were looking scuffed up and beat up.

And just go take a look at ANY decent picture of the era. Tanks were used, they were abused, they were beat up and scuffed up.

And this game has done a HORRID job at depicting that in recent updates.

Go use that Slider on something like the Hummel, or BTR-3E1.

i guarantee it barely changes.

Oh I know. A decent amount of lower tier aircraft look like they are corroding away as you fly.

Yeah they have done a horrible job at that. It comes down to the them wanting everything to look like its ready for a parade and them not wanting to put extra time actually modeling the battle-worn look. It all started here with the T64B and the parade camo it got on release. It even has polished road wheels ffs.

TBF, MOST tanks with metal roadwheels are like that, Black prince for example.

Old and new Tiger II models as well.
