Anyone else miss airfield takeoffs?

Man… I miss top/high tier Air RB airfield spawns.

I miss lining up on the runway, someone instantly plows into the guy in front, and then the Russians start doing Cobras on takeoff. Crash. Another one tries it. Crash. Then another one because clearly the first two weren’t enough.

And then the A-10 finally lifts off and immediately starts teamkilling half the lobby because, why not?

Meanwhile there’s a Eurofighter doing completely illegal maneuvers right after takeoff, and you’ve got the whole team crashing before even flying.

I know airfield spawns still exist in some tiers, but at top tier they’re gone now, and honestly? I miss it. Air spawns are efficient but runway starts had like, a personality. Dumb and very War Thundery kinda.

On smaller maps, make airfield spawns mandatory so matches don’t instantly turn into BVR chaos.
On big maps, keep air spawns so people can get into the fight faster.

Feels like a fair compromise and keeps both the vibes and the pacing.

Is it just me??

Sure, I like taking off, but it’s a bit annoying in planes with slow acceleration that would have to reach the battlefield last. I’m ok with it being limited to the lower to mid tiers

that was really stupid idea that removing airfield takeoff on almost every br realstic battles slowly turning into arcade battles

No, the airfield spawns were infinitely more annoying than air spawns.

I only want it back so top tier air planes have the same takeoff speed. Also it was fun seeing all the cool skins and decals.

I’m neutral about it.

In my typhoon its just an extra 45 seconds to a minute to get up to alt and another 30 or so seconds after that to get up to speed. So an extra 1:30 added to the game time for the sake of having to do a take off. I’m not really that fussed if I need to do this or not, but it does waste some fuel and more importantly time without any meaningful gameplay gain.

Also the airspawn means people can spawn across a wider front, rather than a single point which is really dumb, even at lower BRs and in theory further away, though is last point is rarely actually done for some stupid reason…

At lower BRs it does help offset some of the lower performance aircraft, who struggle with the early climb, which means that a few don’t dominate just because they have better climb rates. Though there is an argument that this then destroys their advantage…

Overall, I’m not that fussed either way. If AF spawns do return though, they need to split the team to spawn on at least 2 Afs to spread the battle over a wider front.

It is an economy nerf. People die with less time on their clock, due to air spawn.

Less time but same score = less income.

I thought the timer started after you got score (and thus activity time)

Go bomb a base of the second wave and go bomb a base of the first wave and compare score…

Wow! So to the festival of guided missiles, also the transition to Arcade airstarts, on a relatively decent map, a small combat zone… Gaijin is overcoming itself… I have been observing for a long time that the Top tier is ADHD chaos and ARB battles have turned into one total grind, where the game is over in a few minutes, in the style of head-on, shooting down the opponent, or another battle… well, keep it up and more, bravo…
