Another nerf to the economy / progression: 10 kills required for the Heavy Metal Hero award

More nerfs to the economy since 10 kills (and being the “Top Killer”) are now required to receive the Heavy Metal Hero award.

Sadly, this is not only VERY HARD to achieve in Ground RB, but it is also preventing:

  • to get the related Awards (5k SL + multiplier)
  • to validate Special Tasks
  • to progress in the Battle Pass

Players will spend currency for Task re-rolls, nerfing the economy progression even further.

Gaijin, it used to be 6 kills - you could AT LEAST have put the multiplier to 3x instead of 2x kills !! or include heavy Metal Fury in the requirements…

Just another nerf to the economy, frustrating players even further.

Do something. Thanks!

Awards aren’t related to the economy. It’s only 5000SL as a bonus as well.

Not only that, but before the change it was objectively easier than the equivalent air award.
Awards are supposed to be challenges, not spawn enough times.

6 frags in ground is like 2 in air.

Awards are related to Silver Lion economy, because:

  • if the award requirements are impossible to meet, players don’t get the SL reward = SL nerf
  • if a task is impossible to complete, players pay SL for task re-rolls = SL nerf

I’m a pretty decent player, with 60% winrate and I am almost always in the top 3 if I play to win. I can’t get this award anymore, not even by chance (10+ kills + more kills than other players).

I agree that one should contribute to the game and be active to deserve an award, but this one is now impossible to get.

Developers definitely don’t play their own games for a long time, and I really hope they can demonstrate how to kill 10 player vehicles in GRB

Not only 10 kills, but also have the most kills amongst all players.

Going from 6 kills to 10 kills is not linear difficulty, it’s exponential:

  • you need to survive longer (respawning will lose time)
  • you need to have enemies to kill (did you hear of 1 death leavers?)
  • you need to get these kills
  • you need to be lucky…
  • AND you need no one else to score more kills than you

It’s not “just 4 extra kills”

I thought it was always ten frags ngl. never got it for less

also dont think the SL economy is bad, its just the RP economy suffering from how much stuff there is

I’ve seen several people complaining they can’t buy all modifications, or their next vehicle, because they don’t have enough SL. Surely, that applies to all players below average skill - that’s a lot!

Do you think progression should be designed like this… in a video game ?

Now, just because the “SL economy isn’t bad” for many other players, it doesn’t mean it should be nerfed.

PS: I got killed as I was writing this oops

Nah dude SL gain in GRB is a joke
Especially for light tanks/IFV’s (they get lower SL multipliers than mediums/others)
A 10+2k (2 airkills) Begleit nuke game (didnt drop because we won too soon) got me <90k SL after repair and ammo-cost
(repair was like 95sl bcs I didnt take damage, ammo 10k SL, 96x SAP, 48x HE-VT, 6x ITOW)
Mind you that this was with premium account and 10% SL booster active.
Only 3 of the total kills were against lower-br vehicles.

Getting 6 kills for an additional 5k SL (15k w/ premium account) was rather easily and consistently possible even in blowouts.
Depending on the BR, there’s a good chance you won’t even see 10 enemies before the enemy team collapses entirely and leaves.
And then again, you also needed to get the most kills in your team, the 6k(now 10k) figure is just an additional requirement to get the award.

If it wasnt for 10 kill wagers (5k in RB), I would literally not be able to play Lights/IFV’s while also being able to buy new vehicles. Even worse when I get to spend nearly half of the SL gained in a match on a singular modification.

Actually happened to find screenshots of two examples;

Spoiler

Remember to deduct 11k SL for ammo-cost and 28.5k SL for an antimech Order here…
Also w/ 10% SL booster.

A friend of mine has just started the game and he’s fine SL wise. It’s just RP takes too long to be acquired.

Not having enough SL genuinely seems like a extreme skill issue until top tier nowadays.

If you are playing without premium, you will run out of SL around 6.0. It doesn’t matter how good you are. In fact, the better you are, the faster you will run out because you will research modules and tanks faster than you can gain SL. The chip effect of purchasing modules for a bunch of new tanks ends up adding up pretty fast.

With premium you can get up to 8.0 and then the problem hits.

The ‘solution’ is to play more games with tanks you have aced, but that begins the grind for SL aspect.

I didnt until 10.3.

but i was both ginding ground and air at the same time so my SL economy was worse off propping up the early british jets grind.

Even when i was a really trash player (as seeable from my arcade stats) i still never struggled with SL once

It’s an impertinence.

I don’t like the shift to 10 kills for that task as it is nearly impossible, but as an average player I have around 23,000,000 SLs in the bank, and I play some garages up to 8.3.

Maybe I don’t spend as much as others because I often buy new vehicles on sales, and because I drop down in BR for some countries to complete battle-pass missions.

FYI - no premium here.

I’m talking as a new player researching tanks and buying them as soon as you unlock them. As i said, if you are playing aced tanks a lot you aren’t researching modules and so you are gaining a lot more SL.

Except they do play their game.
If you can’t get 3 frags in an air battle, or 10 frags in ground, then there are tools out there for you to learn to become a better player.
I get 10 frags in ground as often as I do 3 in air.
I start with 2.5 spawns for vehicles, and if I get 4 frags in my first life, that’s 2 more spawns on top of that.

You are also not required to get these awards, they are for exceptional matches, not every match or even common.

Edit:
Evidence that I do:

In-fact, according to this I have an easier time in ground than air.
As in ground I get 4.15 frags per 3 spawn match.
And 10/3 is 3.33 repeating.
4.15 is higher than the 3.33.

Except, you don’t, at least not very often!

StatShark is showing that for the last month in Ground RB, you hit:

  • K/D Ratio: 1.84
  • Avg Kills/Spawn: 1.43

And in Air RB:

  • K/D Ratio: 1.33
  • Avg Kills/Spawn: 0.63

Tough stats to get you anywhere close to the Heavy Metal Hero Award - oops !!!

Maybe is it a right time to go watch these videos you’re talking about ?

Cheers !

Thanks for proving that I do.
At least you admit you made a mistake by saying “Oops”

Not sure why you made an entire post just to agree with my statement.

I edited my original post to include the evidence that proves my point.

Just to chime in with my unsoliticed opinion, thats average. It is entirely possible to reach 10 kills in one game, then do nothing the other.

For a bonus for doing well, this is hardly an economy nerf.
Although it may be placebo, but it feels like gaijin is snake nerfing RP rewards in ground, the better i become as a player, the worse they seem to get

I have no aced crews.

When I first started playing I did run low on funds - and then I realized the auto-repair was on by default. Once I turned that off things got a lot better.

If you are a relatively new player getting low on funds the following might help (and ignore the items that are already adopted)…

  1. Turn off auto-repair
  2. Play more than 1 country. You can play a diff country while the previous one repairs
  3. Don’t advance too fast. Buying new vehicles is costly. Enjoy your current vehicles while you improve your crews. Don’t rush to “the Tiger” and play it with 2 other low BR vehicles - just a quick road to disappointment.
  4. Go to lower BR when your funds are getting low. Is easier on pocket-book to use lower BR vehicles for a while. Reserve are extra cheap… quick free repairs in garage
  5. You don’t have to buy every vehicle in the tree, and you don’t need to upgrade (mod) vehicles you only buy to get access to the vehicle further down.

I’m just an average player, but I’ve managed to accumulate a decent sum by progressing relatively slowly.
