I’m not following your line of reasoning, the TO90 is a premium that’s one of a kind. Even if I wasn’t originally discussing France’s tendency to favor solid shot AP, it is kind of silly to use this one (premium event) vehicle’s ammo as a point of discussion when there are so many more using 100mm/120mm AP solid shot.
I mean, I wouldn’t call it bad. 300 mm of pen is more than enough to killshot anything from 7.7-9.7 practically.
APDS is such a horrible round in the game’s state at the moment that it is irrelevant to the discussion of rounds. Its atgm is not useful to me either
Mentioning this, shooting the AM-1 with HEATFS is horrible because of all the protection it has against it, almost making it useless to shoot it with.
Vickers has horrible armor and is extremely vulnerable, taking away that advantage practically. especially since its only like 30mm more.Sure, way better angled performance, but still doesn’t compensate and they really aren’t comparable because they are vastly differently played. Sure, M735 has better angled performance, but the AM-1 has way better armor, and yes, that 0 degree pen matters a lot right now, especially when you got tanks looking straight at you. T55-M has significantly worse armor than the AM-1, and the TAM also has significantly worse armor. The main difference is the armor, and it really matters, especially with all of the IFV players and the automatic 20-30mm rounds at this BR.

Probably going to step out of this discussion as I think I’ve kind of lost the plot here. It’s not anything y’all did I just can’t follow what’s going on effectively. I just think the new BR changes are a load of you-know-what.

When’s the last time you saw flat armor around 8.0? It’s 254mm of penetration at 60 degrees.
AMX-50 also has terrible armor just like Vickers Mk1, also AM-1 is 8.7 not 8.0 so comparing AM-1 to AMX-50 and Vickers Mk1 is pointless.
I mean, I’m really talking about turret cheeks, which can be flat or very slightly angled at this br area.

They really won’t. A lot of the higher performing games in these tanks are the full downtiers to 6.7. They won’t get that anymore, so it will hurt that a lot

This discussion was never about the AM-1. It was a reference since I have to play against it a lot. You can not kill it head on in a TO90. you just can’t. Same thing with lots of other 8.7 tanks it sees often.
We cannot know for certain how matches will unfold.
