Situations when one team has 2 or even 3 times more players is common thing in sim mode. The USSR-Germany-Japan are often severely outnumbered. This not only makes it difficult to win the battle, but also leads to situations when you simply can’t control the space around you - as soon as you start a dogfight with one enemy you get few sneaky missile attack fom 2 guys who have just respawned. No matter how good you are it’s impossible to see the whole 360* around you. We have mechanism when players can’t joind the battle when there is the only player in enemy team. Why not apply this to more situations like 2vs5, 3vs8 etc?
Suggestion: do not allow players join the bigger team, if it has the advantage of 2 more players already.
It’s a bug, if the team you wanna join has 3 or more players, in theory you can’t join.
But in reality, sometimes you can. I guess it’s related to the bugged lobbies that you try to join a match were a friend is, and you go to a different match, and when your friend ends his match, he joins automatically to he one you are in.
I don’t remember having any friend playing sim mode. I don’t think it’s actually friend related. I just keep seeing battles where one team is outnumbered and players keep joining that team. I can’t think of any other way of 2vs2 battle turning into 2vs8 besides mentioned feature not working.
Yes, but a player who left the battle (with a gray nickname) is considered as an active player for some time.
Therefore, new players can safely join another team, even if you are alone in your team.
That feature is already in the game, however, it doesn’t account for people in the lobby not actually playing (I believe that’s the case, anyway).
I have been booted from the team with more players, but I think that was a glitch (but it pissed me off because I was on a mission for 5 kills for a wager and it booted me and counted it as my losing the wager)
I wish it would also show you who’s in the lobby vs who’s in the game when you’re looking for rooms; nothing worse than activating a wager and a booster and then joining the game to find out you’re in a a 7 vs 1 wiht 10 people on each team in the lobby…
Had a “funny” 3 vs 12 match in the 12.7 Mig-29 yesterday…
The only thing you can do in such a situation is shooting a R-27ER1 and then return to the base. Everything below 10 km is suicide.
Every dogfight ends in 2 additional F-16s throwing Sidewinders at you, while you try to kill the first F-16 while defending 2 Sparrows or Phoenix…

Already in game, the issue is that when a player leaves an EC lobby, its not counted instantly (this is why if all players leave the game it doesnt immediately end) its usually about 5 minutes.
This creates an issue where one team looks like it has say 5 people, but maybe 2 have left but not “officially” the other team can have up to 8 people before it blocks more joining but that actually leaves it 3v8 and not 5v8 as the MM thinks it is.
Its just a limitation of the MM and im not sure what could be done to fix it, except making the MM pay attention to active players only.

Also the number of players reported is often incorrect, it says you X, and when you join is Y. And all those bugs seem related.
Not to mention r-60m is totally useless compared with aim-9L/M. Playing MiG-29 you can only count on R-27ER. While it’s possible to do something playing 2vs8 on F-15J, MiG-29s RWR, radar and missile turn you into punching bag for all those Falcons and Tomcats having fun with you.
