Ammo detonation randomness

Few minutes ago in a battle…actually he survived

Well, the game has many mysterious.
Like how sometimes a shell breaks a wing and another time it just turns black.

Same with engines. A black engine can still run but it can also be dead.

So maybe modules with like less than 5% health, or something like that, turn black, meaning ammo can turn black without blowing up.

I don’t think we need 10 000 examples, Alvis is just a troll so don’t bother. It definitely is RNG related and thta’s one of the many things Gaijin needs to fix or explain

Client side or server side? Because that could also be explained with desync.

Pretty sure server side

its definetely server side (that did not kill me btw)

the pendulum swings both ways - you can die to a red ammo hit

this is so fun! what a great feeling - shoot an ammo rack and see the guy drive away!

whats really depressing is that this topic will remain dead - people would rather seethe and whine about something completely irrelevant - like the vt4 drama or some other BS

Spookston OF-40 video also received a non-kill ammo hit against a falcon (that then killed him since it didn’t take damage because ammo = spall liner these days).

It happens to me usually against SPAA that their entire ammo is in the hull so they just tank it and move on…

Fun fact: blacking ammo is NOT considered a critical hit lol…

this ““feature”” is so incredibly hateful and godawful, there is nothing positive about ammoracking being rng

how tf is this still in game is beyond me, honestly not too surprised considering the absolute state of the game

yeah lmao its literally considered a “Hit”

For real. That and volumetric bs are the two main reasons that make me play way less than i used to. And when i open the forums i see a ton of useless threads regarding small details while the source of the gameplay is slowly dying

you can barely see it, but it does hit the ammo
“боеукладка” means ammo in English

Yeah is happens very often. Used to happen a lot on Tiger II and more recently it happened on a ZSU 37, Wiesel and others.
The ammo just vanishes without any explosion.

Also i’m glad to know that a stab is literally just called a stab in russian lol

happens much more frequently on “single piece” ammo, like ammo belts on SPAA

I’m pretty sure it’s just behind the scenes manipulation to get the desired outcome, set one vehicle to 30% chance and one to 60% chance and how is anyone going to know?

Good point, just another reason why I prefer tanks with 200+ grams of filler for lower BRs. I don’t trust ammo racking, but I do trust crew members fried till crispy.

GJ just loves to make certain tanks less vulnvrable and other injustly vulnerable.

British tanks use 2 part ( yes I know the caps are technically making them 3 part but I don’t care ) and you could shoot the ammo in the rear turret and detonate it, basically you could detonate solid metal with nothing there that can explode.

I also found ( not sure if its still the same ) but 1 of the challenger 2’s I was using, had 1 HESH shell secretly stowed in the hull at the front allowing you to be detonated easy even when carrying no HESH shells at all ( I hope its fixed but since its british I highly doubt it )

not really, inert rounds are modelled and do nothing when struck

actually managed to fire off two atgms at him lmao

The damage model is so random it’s absurd. Had a game a few days ago where I hit a YAG10 milk truck in the rear ammo box TWICE perfectly with PZIV APHE (I was out of HE) with him completely side on to me, and neither hit did anything but pass straight through, almost like ghost shells. That sort of hit on a YAG10 or FLAK88 is almost always an instakill with the ammo exploding. The inconsistency of the hit results in this game can be infuriating. Especially when you put in the hard work to gain a good position of advantage against an enemy (who in this case didn’t even know I was there until after the second shot) and this happens and YOU end up get one-shotted after having done everything right.
