I’ll be honest I don’t agree that they should be purely visual. You should be able to gun them down and get small rewards for it like in ARB. Make them bleed tickets too, maybe. Other than that: +1
I especially like the idea of helicopter insertion. There was another infantry suggestion with light vehicles being able to do so. Helicopters having the same mechanic would be epic.
People comparing this to infantry games have no idea what they’re talking about and are dismissing the idea of additions for a grossly minimalistic gameplay. This has nothing to do with playing as infantry neither should the game stay stale like it has for a decade now.

I think the best thing we can do in order to appease both sides of the argument is to make this a separate game mode or make this exclusively for heli PvE. I understand that some ground players believe that this addition would ruin their spawn kill simulator. I do however like the idea of using utility helicopters and infantry fighting vehicles for their actual purpose instead of just being light targets for tanks and SPAA. Helicopters were made to support infantry after all. I suggest a type C variation. Infantry that can physically hold and capture objectives only if no other player is on the point. The more troops on a point, the faster it is captured. Players could receive points based on the actions of their infantry after deployment such as enemy player damage or objective capture. This would work by having groups of infantry existing as one entity in the files of the game to avoid server issues and having hundreds of troops cluttering the map. This is 100% feasible as half the mechanics already exists in the game files.
Infantry as of now can:
- attack and damage the player
- have limited pathfinding
- Can move to, capture, and hold objectives
I made a few examples in the CDK. They can do much more but I’m not a coding expert and the infantry is limited in capability as of now.
we need heli assault/paratrooper covering objectives in stuff like Heli EC (take a AH-1 or Huey gunship to back up slicks that drop troops) and Air SB and hopefully RB EC where you just escort C-130’s or Blackhawks or Ospreys onto LZ.
or add the transports themselves with higher rewards alongside the AI ones

IFVs and other APCs should be able to bring in a normal anti tank squad with an couple RPG guys, with the rest carrying small arms, and being able to deploy said squad at a capture point.
I feel like helicopters that can carry troops should be able to bring in elite Anti tank squads equipped with RPGs (2-3 more than ground unit squads), to drop off at a point.
(These squads would also help capture a point slightly quicker, wouldn’t stack if say another team mate dropped off a squad, they also would give the person who dropped them off an capture, even if that person dies, but the point was never cleared of infantry, and it is contested until won back by friendly forces, even if you have 1 guy remaining it still gives as much of a cap as you had when you died)

My personal take is that infantry is the only logical remaining step for the game once all vehicles are exhausted sans releasing War Thunder 2. It’s the biggest missing component to the game and it would drastically change the way the game is played.

It’s nice to see someone who actually took the time to read through it and give a constructive response. Thanks! (been away over the weekend so)

Lets say we can all agree the idea of actually using heli and transport vehicles for their purpose will greatly improve gameplay and the level of immersiveness. As some have stated you can if using transport/support vehicles gain Xp that way as well as silver lions so that way more vehicles can be add and more people doing other jobs.(this is just me) It would be cool to also not be able to fight while doing this but get out and walk around and repair damage to the exterior of the vehicle that way.

there is already some infantry in one or two air maps whihc you can bomb… but they dont give you aynthing they just fall down and despawn after some time. also they are really hard to see so most people definitly havent noticed them yet. I dont know if they have been removed though
Believe they were removed a year or two ago not sure though

I have made a suggestion of this just waiting to see if it gets accepted or not
This would be better then the auction. Also I have some more to add. Again it would bee nice to have transport vehicles cause it opens up new playing styles. Some others that could be implemented thanks to this are. 1. Engineering vehicles, 2. medical EVAC. With a long list of others. Now the Engineering here is how I see it working. 1 they get into the battle earlier to setup points such as Ditches and repair points along with rearming points and after that the fighting vehicles can enter the battle after some spots have been fortified. Now the med EVAC well you get RP by picking up wounded bots and taking them back to the field medics and the more you do the more RP and SL.

Logistics Vehicles would 100% be viable in the game. There could be an entire line of vehicles used exclusively for transport. Infantry could be your payload. Match would start and everyone would rush in their lighter, faster vehicles to get to the areas near the objective with cover and deploy their troops, fighting infantry and other light vehicles while waiting for support from the rest of the team. This could be used as a match opener or a last ditch effort to gain spawn points. These vehicles could deploy engineers to make friendly repairs be twice as fast too. I would 100% drive a super light transport vehicle to deploy a squad of engineers near teamates that need repairs or drop off a platoon of rifleman to capture an objective. Would make for a fun playstyle.

still waiting for info on if it gets accepted or not
I actually would love this, so long as infantry was AI. I don’t want it to become infantry focused for players, as that’s what Enlisted (which also has its charms) is for. I think it shouldn’t even just be pure infantry, things like field guns we’ve seen in World War maps would be cool too, and logistics and transport AI vehicles too like cargo ships in naval. We’d need appropriate infantry and support weapons by BR though.
I still miss the days when Air RB, or Historical Battles as it was then, were longer and were actually operations where you were supporting an overall battle. There were issues of course, but I think ditching it to cater to fighter-exclusive players who wanted quick, arcade team deathmatch without admitting they play arcade was beyond throwing out the baby with the bath water. I wish they’d built upon it, and then the pieces would have been there to have that in GRB too. There’s be objectives like taking out artillery batteries (that could even influence the ability or performance of artillery strikes) or supporting/stopping an offensive. Not just IFVs, but tanks were often designed to attack infantry and fortified installations more than other armor. You’d have a reason to carry some HE, or even shrapnel rounds. This lets these vehicles actually fulfill more of the job they were built for.
You’d still need to outplay other players who would be the tanks on the map, but keeping people invested in a game like this instead of maximizing churn means making sure all levels of player can feel like they had fun. Note I’m not saying get carried. Even good players (and I’m under no pretense I am one) know how frustrating even a very short streak of being killed by a guy you didn’t see without accomplishing anything and going back to hangar can be. Lots of games have ways to keep them engaged without it meaning skill doesn’t pay off to win matches. It’s not like random lobbies need to have e-sports rules.
Often those who develop are not those who do bug fix, so what you say does not make sense as things go with 2 different teams, and with different timing and goals. Gaijin is a company, he will only do what is best for his business, so if the infantry option will be a better long -term investment based on the question, then he will be made, and the fun of the dissatisfied individuals will go into the background, or directly not calculated as a collateral effect.
Not our fault current tech was rushed into the game. Yes, content is limited but we do not have to be spoiled every major with a bunch of vehicles and we do not need about 300+ vehicles added every year.
Can also spoil us with game modes, maps, model refinement and and fixes.
buddy this was the draft its already been accepted as a suggestion its under graphics and sounds
