Says who? There are tons of people playing top tier at level 20 who bought a premium there, not like the game is fundamentally different at BR 4 as it is at 8.0.
And plenty of level 100s at 4.0 as well, maybe even more so than at 8.0.
it is actually. There is massive difference between below 7.0 and above 8.0 gameplay
Not really, you might get a stabilizer for the first time if you didn’t play US or UK, or you might get APDS and Heatfs instead of APBCBC, but it’s not a different game.
A lot of things start to change from 7.0. Tanks start to become less armored while mobility and fire power increases( except some heavies)
Armor starts to matter less from 7.0. It takes some to get used to it. Also as a new player you need to change your game style because of it. The transition can be quite difficult for some players.
We all know how they perform at toptier
Armor doesn’t matter on a lot of things before 8.0 either, it barely ever matters unless you’re playing a KV-1 at some point, you can play a 234/2/34, M18 or whatever light tank to have no armor and mobility.
Things having less armor doesn’t exactly require 500h of gameplay experience to deal with, it’s easier to kill a Leopard than it is a Tiger ll, or an M551 instead of a T34.
We all know how they perform at toptier
Because they actually took a shortcut, just playing the TT until 8.0 isn’t really a shortcut and that’s not even halfway to being at top tier.
never said he took a short cut. You cant instantly learn something. It takes some time. A few hundred more matches is enough(It doesn’t take much time to play a few hundred matches if you are playing 70-80 matches per week)
You should spend the SL to upgrade the crews to expert. It is worth it in case you plan to play those tanks for more than just grinding to the next BR bracket.
Well, I think the brackets between 7.7 and 9.3 are “fast evolving”. You get stabilizers which earn their name, you get thermal vision, you get radar tracking for SPAA, you get missiles which aren’t simple dump missiles, you start facing helicopters (which are either VERY EASY targets or nearly one-man-armies, depending on player skill and ping from the heli player), you get ERA armor making HEAT essentially useless for a lot of players (on top of HEAT exploding on each fence and blade of grass). Just to mention some of the significant changes you face.
Join a squadron, they will put you straight.
There is one point I see which is possibly a little concerning: You have only some of the vehicles spaded (maxed out). There is a HUGE difference in vehicle performance between stock and spaded, even if the crew is “underperforming” (read: not able to expert the vehicle). Try to spade the important vehicles you like before advancing to the next BR bracket.
But endlessly playing WW2 tech doesn’t exactly help prepare you for any of that.
Besides advancing crew skills and map knowledge, your statement is true.
Just try and enjoy and I wouldn’t worry about comparing stats to others. I move up and down BRs depending on my mood.
Here’s a good video explaining the do’s and don’ts on movement.

Keep in mind that most youtubers cherrypick their matches - which makes sense of course, you record a few days worth of gameplay, and you pick the best games to feature in your video. So don’t forget that those guys will also have their “off days” where they barely leave spawn and get blown up because they didn’t clear a corner, or because RNG, or because it’s just one of those days where no matter what you do, you get clapped in the most frustrating way possible.
You can reach 8.0 easily at level 30 if you just play one single tech tree. I did.
It is. Instead of slow-ish tanks with manually ranged guns you are up against faster, more mobile vehicles, with laser range finder for auto-ranging, APDS and HEAT-FS rounds, and in some cases, thermals which are a game changer in their own right.
You also start facing vehicles from 1 BR up which have all of that, plus APFSDS, better thermals, and even more mobility, and especially around 8.0/9.0 you start seeing the IFV’s with autocannons, and ATGM’s. Completely different playstyle required.
Completely different playstyle required.
And somehow people think you learn that playstyle by not playing it.
I def enjoy playing the game and am not going to stop bc i lose. in terms of lowering brs, i sometimes go down to 6.7, but american heavies at that br are my nemesis
very true, and in the hands of an experienced player, an autocannon with darts is incredibly lethal to anything not a heavy-ish MBT
At least you have some things to go with the Turm III. Both the Leo with the L44 cannon and the TAM are pretty good tanks. What’s holding you back is just the experience that comes from working your way up, but you’ll get there eventually. Spending some GE on your crews to put some points into their skills will still help you a lot.
