Am I dumb or is hitting autoloader on russian tanks should make them go boom, due to ammo in autoloader carousel?

what do you mean carousel

Yes, but then Russia players would be sad

That’s the type of autoloader it is.

The thing that all the ammo is stored in which when hit should immediately caused the top of the tank to go flying 100 hotdogs (i’ll use anything but the metric system)in the air

Depends on where you hit the auto loader man. If I throw some eggs into a basket and shoot a random hole in it, it ain’t always gonna hit an egg. Not the best analogy but hopefully that gets the point across.

I have never heard a better analogy for situation like that

I mean it has less to do with the “badly welded turret rings” and more the massive amount of explosives catching fire and not being directed anywhere. Any tank without blowup panels will suffer a similar fate once ammo cooks off.

Fair it is mostly the millions of tons of pressure building up. No tank could survive that.

Difference being that with APFSDS there’s a cone of fragment that will 99% of the time hit the ammo.
Considering the physics of APFSDS being to kill with the super heated fragments literally cooking the interior of the tank, it makes sense that after hitting most powder ammunitions, they would explode (except the inert second stage of British tanks, or maybe, and that’s a big maybe, the German explosion proof ammo)

And if that spall happens to hit the ammunition and destroy it, the tank will more than likely explode. This isn’t a game of "what if"s, if the ammunition or spall hits the ammo and destroys it then… Well… The ammo is destroyed.

Yep it should be but Russian main will be angry if put reality in to their head you can find it go boom in recent war clips in youtube

Should it? Yes. Do we have thousands of videos to prove russian vehicles do this? Also yes.

Does it in game? No. USSR tanks are artifically buffed by being given the lowest detonation rates in game:

T80BVM Detonation Probability = 15%

image

M1A2SEP Detonation Probability = 50%

How old is this? Because I remember they did something like this a long time ago but I thought they undid it

This is the current in game code. As of today these are the stats.

Even USSR vehicles like the PT-76

BMPs

And 2S38 are set to 15%

First, these parameters have nothing to do with the chances of the ammo exploding.

Second, many tanks have same 0.15 value. Or better to say all top mbt except abrams and challenger have 0.15

Don’t spread this silly misinformation.

by combustion time does that mean how long the ammo cooks off or how long it takes for the ammo to explode?

The USSR light tanks sit at 15% det.

The Weasel sits at 50%

The Marder sits at 50%

Make it make sense…

Yep spalling count hit the ammo, but the way the Russian autoloaders are both modeled and geometrically shaped, they act as a sort of armor from the spalling fragments. And besides, according to gaijin, spalling fragments can’t even tickle 120mm ammo that’s stored out in the open.

There’s no sense, because it has nothing to do with the chance of ammo exploding. Most likely it has connection with the burning ammo or death animation where you explode, but nobody knows for sure.

You can take a friend on a leopard, go to custom, make him take 17 shells so 1 shell remains in the hull. And start shooting at this single piece of ammo. Spoiler, you will get a 100% chance of detonation, not 15%.
