Allow SPAA into air mode

aircraft is allowed to ruin our day in ground battles so SPAA should be able to join air battles too otherwise its unfair advantage

playing SPAA on ground battle is also extremely boring cuz there are matches where only a few aircraft show up and a single ally SPAA with the fastest missile usually a strela or pantsir gets all the kills forcing you to either sacrifice the vehicle to spawn something different to be useful for the team or carrying the anti air vehicle into fighting tanks and apc which goes against its doctrine and intended role

They should also bring back lead indicators in GRB (for SPAA only). Oh, and have proxy fuses actually work at lower tiers, instead of spending five minutes rangefinding, just for the plane to be far closer and makes your shells useless.

Id imagine that it wouldnt be too exciting to drive your ostwind around a 20X20km map.

They could add it but i dont think anyone would really play them outside of a few at top tier.

I dont think most air mains would even care tbh, but it would be boring as shit for you cause theyd just start flying where the spaa arent

You should just be able to set the fuse distance without ranging, but nothing more than that, cause its not proxy, its time fuse

Or, we get lead indicators like we had back in the day if GRB until air mains cried. Also, there’s a few proxy rounds in Russia and Germany, variable timed fuses. Britain should have them since we literally invented proximity fuses.

Nah, Gajin just realized that people who relied on lead indicators were absolute garbage.

Russia and Germany don’t get proxy fuze shells till 6.0, M109G for Germany and 2S1 for Russia.

The proxy shells on both tanks are working fine so there’s nothing to complain about

Oh yeah just cuz ground battles are ruined we should ruin air battles as well. We all played nuclear thunder and know how annoying the spaa was. Also the maps would probably be too big for the spaa, especially at lower tiers

that could be easily solved by adding spawn points closer to the middle grounds for the SPAA its not like you must spawn in the border, another way is making the objective being the obliteration of opposite airfield then aircraft will be drawn like moths to the anti air space defended zone at some point which could make fighter+bomber formations actually a thing, fighters defeat the planes in the middle and then try to draw and doge/flare anti air missile for bomb planes to deal most of the destruction on the airfield or simply overrun the enemy by defeating as many planes as possible to deplete spawns

for the ww2 distance issue on SPAA endlessly traveling it could be smaller maps that would make sense for ww2 planes are way slower than modern jets

ofc, if ground battle are not gonna be strictly ground battle then i dont see an issue for having SPAA fighting against aircraft on air mode instead of having autoaim npcs, in fact i think the human errors would make it more of a fair fight in that case scenario

This would require every air map to also be a ground map, which is a lot more work than every ground map also being an air map since if you fly low enough to the ground in Air Battles you tend to notice that the terrain is. Lower fidelity.

Anyway aircraft in ground battles are a core and intentional part of the game design while ground vehicles in air battles would require the mode to be redesigned to the point that it would just be Ground RB 2: CAS is free but tanks aren’t edition

Are you suggesting they make maps small enough so that the planes dont have time to climb?

If you want to add spaa into the gamemode in a way that matters, the gamemode needs to be remade.

ARB is a legacy mode that needs to be rebuilt. The current system for it doesnt work well outside of fight/fighter gameplay.

it doesnt have to be 1x1cm map there is already a mechanic where destruction of city by artillery depletes blue points, if the same is added into an airfield which had to be protected by anti air vehicles from invading aircraft you wouldnt need to travel to disney with SPAA or model the entire map, just the airfield and slightly around it would be sufficient, there are many ways to make a barrier either by elevation of terrain, rocks, indestructible walls or just red zone that destroyed SPAA if ventured too far from the airfield in case you’re worrying about performance issues of big maps or adding too much details or extensive reworks

Hm. Using this as a vehicle to readd airfield bombing and thus make bombers Actually Do Something Again could be interesting, but I don’t know if the code to support only bringing SPAA and not all ground vehicles exists

Yeah, and it was because SPAA’s were buffed to a point of insanity in that mode.
Missiles launched from OSA or Roland hitted tree / ground and it only deleted smoketrails from those missiles.

Tracking like consoleplayers locking trough trees and terrain.

No “wobbling” of those missiles on long range.

If those AA’s would been same as they are on GRB it would be just BUK / patriots / hawks to worry in that mode.

Could you explain how the ww2 spaa will be able to take out the bombers at 5km+ alt?
