Allow Bushes to be Turned Off in Graphics

Just a game i had, can you spot the wiesel before he kills you? If that’s not pay to win, what is it?

I take it you mean the bright green bushes I spotted immediately? I would be more concerned that the weasel is even in the game at the Cold war era it is.

So who is the villain the guy with the bushes or the person who played for 12 years and never contributed a penny to the game ?

Oh that out of place green bush behind the CV? Easy to MG if there’s the angle. Gotta work on your awareness. This " example" doesn’t help your argument. Try again.

I’ve gotten the point where most of the time bushes don’t impact my ability to prevail, but there is one major scenario where they are surprisingly effective when the entire turret is a poof of foliage: if you are having a peek war around a rock or berm, the bushes can make it impossible to tell when they’ve peeked up/out enough to take your shot…by the time you see the gun barrel (if you can even make it out) they’re firing and it’s probably too late.

Other than that they don’t cause me too much trouble. That said, my objection to them is aesthetic. Imagine if bushes were free or easier for everyone to obtain, and EVERY tank in the game was completely covered in its front by bushes the way that some are now. Like you NEVER saw what the front of tanks even looked like. I’m a tank enthusiast and I think that would demotivate me from playing…I think it’s already too much now.

Processing: image.png…

Plenty of photos of tanks completely covered in bushes especially from the Bocage after Normandy 44 where tanks fought literally among bushes and hedges. That is why we all laughed when Gaijin removed all the bushes from the Normandy 44 map.

You do get used to spotting bushes and they can do you more harm than good.Knowing how to best apply them takes time. You also need plenty of camo options as appearing on some maps as a big green bush is not advised.

I just wish you could grind towards bushes outside of a battlepass, as a battlepass might happen during a period you cannot play enough to get it to a decently high level.

My ideal would be like…

Each tier unlocks bushes like aced crew skills or camoflagues. Make it like… tier 1 is 200K RP for first bush for all tanks in that tier, tier 2 is 400k RP, tier 3 800k and so forth. Make it an absurd grind that still works out over time if you play that tier a lot - like, 6 months/1 bush or maybe even 1 year/bush without premium.

Keep it purchasable from the shop though as is, retaining its value for its owners.

The big difference from the current BP system is that you can slowly work towards it year-round but may need to give up progressing towards high tier if you want it on your jagdpanzers.

You don’t need to buy them, you can quite literally get one per week and max out all of them in 4 months without a single cent.

Nothing about it is unfair.

Are regular players not the people using the bushes?

Be that as it may, I think they look like ass and it takes away from my enjoyment of the game.

You need level 57 battlepass to access the chance to roll a bush.

Level 57 means you have ~90 days to get 570 battlepass points.

Logging in each and every day for those 90 days will net you ~24 battlepass levels. This is assuming 91 days of log ins.

I can’t remember how many medals you needed, let’s go with 12 since that seems the norm for lvl 57 tier. That’s gonna give us 6 more levels. That’s 30 out of 57. We wanna preserve our warbonds so we stop at 12.

We need 270 battlepass points, and daily tasks add up to 5 points This means 54 days of logging in and doing the battlepass tasks.

Challenges may or may not add some points but that’s unreliable because a lot of tasks are time gated so you can only complete it over 2-3 weeks. Like, I started playing WT again at the end of august so I’ve missed out on the easy battlepass challenges like skeet shooting and didn’t have enough time to complete harder ones. I’ve only got 30 points out of the 150 possible until start of september because I didn’t play every day of the battlepass.

Then there’s challenges that require modes or vehicles you do not play so you cannot complete them either. Namely, naval related challenges.

So, to be generous let’s assume someone gets about 90 points from challenges. This reduces the 54 days of logging in and doing tasks to “only” 45 days.

Surely you see the problem.

Last battlepass I joined flat out too late to even bother trying. This battlepass I’m trying to get to level 47 to get enough warbonds for the aigle to have something that prints SL for sim.

And we havn’t even talked about the obnoxiousness of battle tasks and special tasks. Even after rerolling and spending all my SL on them, I sometimes end up with ARB/GRB tasks that veritably take 3 hours to complete due to match length, activity requirements, probability of encountering the right enemy type, win requirements. The only way to cut this 3 hours down is to ODL and play in really obnoxious, anti-team ways like join, get 1 kill, return to hangar, play another nation while crew locked and get another kill and so forth.

Having bushes locked behind the battlepass is incredibly scummy.

The proposed idea of mine fixes all these issues:

TL:DR make bushes act like Acing a crew in terms of how grindy it is, but make it grindier.

As long as you keep your daily logins up, which you could do by streaming the game to your mobile device, you can actually get pretty far without actually doing many of the tasks.

I dont have an issue with F2P players getting easier access to bushes.I had the money for them when I was laid up and playing this game big time. The only issue I have is buying something then having it nerfed after I paid for it.

It sadly won’t happen as it is just a cheap pay to win mechanic for Gaijin. And you have enough idi**ts defending it, so Gaijin can get away with it. People that truely believe that bushes do not provide an actual advantage are just lost. Just the other day I had a BMP in front of me whose turret has been covered in bushes. Due to the distance and the fact that the barrel of the BMP is quite small, I could not identify in what direction the turret was turned to. So I peaked assuming that he was looking another way, and boom I have an ATGM flying towards me.

You can already turn off a lot of cosmetic things and if bushes are a cosmetic option, then there is no reason that you cannot toggle them off.

Most people defend it by saying that you can “grind” them in the battle pass over a span of 4 months. Sorry, but that is not feasible as they are not advertised at all and a lot of people don’t even know about the battle pass or just forget about it.

The second argument that I see is “just machine gun them off”. So while the opponent can already get a clear shot at me I have to first machine gun the bushes off? Giving away my position AND losing time while doing it? XD

And there are plenty of maps where they offer a massive advantage. Hürtgen is a great example as there are a lot of bushes on the sidelines and often times you can go hull down at these areas where you only expose the turret. If that turret is covered with bushes, good luck finding the tank.

The only justification for them staying is to make them COMPLETELY free to play so that anyone can buy them with SL.

It really is baffling to see people defend bushes still, it’s 100% a pay to win feature that has no reason to exist in the game.

“Bushes are F2P because during a very limited time of the year, you can log in every day for 91 days and spend over 50 of those days playing for 1-3 hours each day depending on pure RNG to have a chance to roll for a single bush.”

Current battlepass, I’ve 51 log ins and done 32 medium tasks, 12 special tasks. I’m level 46 on BP. Bushes are level 57 (also current BP has no bushes).

lmao

And then do that 10 more times and hope it’s enough to have a set of bushes that is half decent, perfectly fine to have to spend half a decade trying to obtain them.

Bushes are realistic things, not cosmetic.

  1. It is their fault if they don’t learn how the game work.
  2. Even if someone doesn’t grind the battle pass, he can still grind the event, get free GJN and buy those bushes. I mean there are really many ways to get it for free with a bit of grinding.

The game mechanics is already justicial enough. Everyone can get those things free!

Battlepass isn’t the only way to get bushes for free. For instance, grind the air event, sell the vehicle for GJN, and then purchase GE and buy the bushes.

Or do you just want everything to be instantly unlocked without a single bit of grinding?

Oh yeah, because the events are so easy and accessible to complete.

Maybe I just don’t want pay to win features in the game, or at least not any more on top of all the ones we have already.

Aren’t they?

Especially ones when You need to collect parts that You can sell without much effort as You get them while playing.
