the leopard is the most frequent tank so will have this instance happen more often.
The leo 2 also is the best frontally protected tank in game, the mantlet is the only real safe spot to shoot them, the driver port is secure and the lower glacis depending on version (which isn’t easy to tell in the heat of battle) can either be inpenetrable or somewhat a weakspot. Players are conditioned to only breech shot no matter what when there’s a leopard, also making breech one shots more likely to occur
No, you’re mistaken. I’ve tested it, and am not the only one that knows about this. We can test it if you want later.
I’m aware. Its still the best tank in the game. However, it is frequently oneshot through the barrel if you get a direct hit. Does not change much except making you a bit angry the few times it does happen.
You’re right on the fact that the Leo will get hit in the barrel more often, however you’re mistaken thinking its just a matter of placebo or whatever. Something changed with the Leo 2 when the trunnion changes were implemented, and it gets oneshot through the barrel quite often ever since those changes. It is also the only tank with the trunnion, so there’s that as well.
its not the only tank with a trunnion. they appear on several lower tier tanks such as TOG but also on the challenger, however the trunnion doesn’t appear on challengers Xray and only on armour.
I do still think there’s a lot of confirmation bias going on but gaijins consistently inconsistent modelling practices don’t help in clarity
You are talking to someone who doesn’t care, and rather than bring any proof to contest what’s happening he’s deflecting, making wild claims, and posting unrelated stuff.
On topic. In most tanks the breech and co seems to eat spall. In Germany ever since they introduced the turret basket all the modules seem to produce additional spall rather than eat it.
I’ve seen the basket create spall prior, maybe that was changed. It really shouldn’t given it’s a thin mesh meant to catch spall and protect the crew. Kinda curious tho, you mentioned the Leo having the trunnion modelled and other tanks not, that can’t be true, right?
Nice! And why not, it’s similar to how the PUMA has so many modules it’s basically not used anymore because even an MG hit to the anti ATGM cone can disable it and keep it from firing. While the 2S38, T80UD, etc can fire with 90% of their modules destroyed.
I’m not fundamentally against adding various modules, but adding them to only a single vehicle or country is ridiculous.
Maybe, and not necessarily disagreed. But it’s ridiculous that they add modules to some tanks which massively hurt them. Then tie various modules together in a way that’s outright bad and makes them super easy to disable. While other tanks can keep firing when they’re basically just a smoking pile of burning metal.
Strf 9040c, 2S38, T80UD where the entire turret has turned black, yet these guys can still aim and fire with no issues. While for example the PUMA gets MG’d and becomes a sitting duck.
