Don’t really want to tbh, it’s not like that DU makes it out of america anyways so it’ll never benefit me to know, on the other hand I have done quite a bit of research on Chobham/Dorchester, SLERA and C-D tech armour on the Leopard 2 series

my man, there is a reason countries have these things classified, regardless of the inherent value of whatever documents. if theyre classified they will not take it lightly if theyre diffused.

The iraqis ha there own self built tanks, with their own version of thermal optics that were home grown. East germans were helping them or they imported them. The Iraqi Republican guard were battle hardened soldiers that did everything right… Our tanks were just better :)
i think people are too focused on these DU armor stuff, we will never know either way so we should focus on what gaijin can fix (turret ring, DU armor in the cheeks, and add a fucking aps)

the hull of the abrams being depleted uranium isn’t classified. Since its literally been talked about in newspapers and in congressional reports lol.

wikipedia claims that a handful of these tanks were retrofitted with early belgian thermal imaging during the war, however that’s an assumption due to said thermal imagers being discovered in some factory in Iraq so idk if there is any concrete evidence of them being equipped or not
there were reports of t 72s being found with them in them. i would have to scour army records from 30 years ago to find it : /
that would essentially mean the abrams would have literally bean nigh invulnerable at the further ranges of their effective range.
i would actually like a event t-72 with thermals at a lower BR
the army has reports of abrams being hit by other abrams into the hull / turret and the rounds sometimes didn’t penetrate.
M833 and M774 cannot pen the abrams UFP in 99% of situations in game either
