Alernative BR based on technologies?

The PT-76B is 5.0 in AB but in RB it’s 5.3.

But that gap isn’t big enough if using the T-34-85 / T-34-85 (STP) as a benchmark. Has a 2-step difference compared to the 1-step for the PT-76.

BRs are already based on technologies.
That’s why M109 is 6.3 instead of 1.0.
The reload, turret, and engine technology made it so much more of an upgrade that it warrants a 6.3 BR difference.

The battle rating is a perfect system for what you are asking, it’s just that gaijin prefers lower queu time over decompression

Fighting Fox-2 (IR missiles) without flares isnt necessarily that big of an issue, as you can deny rear-aspect shots with careful manevuering. The issue is all-aspect fox-2s, that is where it can be difficult, especially as these missiles are often too good to kinematically defeat either, nor can you limit their engagement range by flyign smart. (though rockets do make effective subtitute flares if you’ve got that as an option)

So in an ideal world aircraft without flares should only be seeing rear-aspect missiles, with a few possible exceptions of the strongest aircraft without flares, and only then in a full uptier.

As for aircraft without missiles facing aircraft with missiles, there is enough low performance missiles like the Aim-9B to create a fairly soft buffer with the right decompression.

As we move up to All-aspect vs IRCCM, then this isn’t an issue at all usually and soon IRCCM into “IIR” should be reasonably fine too.

As for Fox-1s (SARH), this is mostly fine, as radar performance and airframe performance helps create a soft buffer. There is an transitional period of Fox-1 vs Fox-3 (ARH) which should be mitigated by having the best SARH slingers vs the weakest ARH slingers, but the compression is so overwhelmingly extreme, that this is just impossible

While I am a fan of giving vehicles their historically correct loadouts, there are some issues with giving some of the more advanced munitions to some vehicles.

The issues mainly happen when you have a vehicle that continued to be in service even though upgrades or newer models were available. This is most notable (imo) with the Tornado GR.1. By adding the 9m to the GR.1 you either make the GR.4 obsolete in air rb if the GR.1 gets put lower, or you make the GR.1 obsolete in air rb if it gets put at the same br as the GR.4. And while the GR.4 does have the party trick of the brimstone, it is not enough to distinguish the two in either AtA or AtG roles.

As such, I don’t think that aircraft like the GR.1 should get the more advanced munitions when there are other later variants that can. Especially when the leap in capability between the older and the newer is large enough to warrant a substantial increase in br.

Stab vs no stab. I’m fine with this being in the game. A stabilizer can make engagements really one side in the worst of cases, but this is only really a problem for tanks that have abysmal elevation speeds. Plus having something like a Centurion mk10 fight against unstabilized leopards can actually help balance the matchup as Centurions are much worse than a leopard in most regards.

Missiles vs flareless planes. This is more complicated. At 9.7 and below I’d say it’s fine, the jets that don’t get flares at this br tend to have other things going for them like good missiles or excellent dogfight performance. But beyond that there really needs to be a good reason for it to not have flares, like having some really good missiles for the br; like magic1s at 10.0 for example.

APFSDS vs tanks without. The range I would say a well performing dart should show up is around 8.7 to 9.0. The only things that should have a dart at a lower br should be in a tank with other qualities that makes it hard to use: Mars 15 for example. Where I draw the line however is with the tanks that get adequate darts at 8.3 with virtually no downside.

Laser rangefinder vs without. This is probably a lot larger of an issue than darts at low br. There are some 9.0 tanks that don’t have them, and too often they are paired with and against things that do even in downtiers. Of course you see a lot more tanks without lasers at 8.7, but would you really like to risk that when fighting at 1.5km against an Olifant or a type 69?

The only issue with that is the fact that the Mirage IIIC that carries those at 10.0 has no countermeasures and thus cannot really be moved higher in BR

I don’t really think the MARS is hard to use. but I might be too far corrupted by the french tanks.
