What can I say? I died while landing my jet because IRIS hit me at the airfield. I was about 10 meters above the ground, landing at the far end of the airfield, we’re talking something like 15 km away, we need something around 20–25 km I guess. Unfortunately, IRIS ignored everything, mountains, trees, and I dont have any kind of warning saying I am getting shot at when its Iris.
Considering that most sams can only engage within 10km, and only the much newer ones can go beyond.
No, the airfield is far enough away.
(and I don’t think cas needs any more protection from spaa than they already have.)
moving the heli spawns back though would mean they cant just shoot from the pad. having to actually fly to the battlefield would create a window where they are moving and actually show on radar and can be engaged… or Gaijin could model the rotor PD effect, hell just make hovering helis become visible under a certain range, as that’s the end result of the effect anyway.
Op is talking about plane airfields
The issue is, most of the match will have gone by if you land on the air field in GRB unless you’re lucky enough to get the Battle gamemode. The maps and modes aren’t made to support reasonable airfield distances.

band-aid fix to the inherent flaws of GRB. I should say it’s more like trying to put a band-aid on an open artery hemorrhage
I was just thinking of CAS spawns in general, it wouldn’t make much difference for planes as they air spawn, so the AF location only matters after they use their 1st load of ordnance. but it could really help with the helis.
