I just watched someone die in <10s trying to kill a ju288 circling the runway. We lose a win wager on tickets because nobody could kill them. His plane fucking exploded instantly coming top down at 700kph, my plane fucking exploded because my control surfaces were shot out.
Passive play is reportable yet nothing gets done and it’s ENCOURAGED. Fix your shit, replace airfield aa with midmap or get rid of it entirely. Every. Single. Game someone runs to it.
Remember Adamtheenginerd’s AF camping video where it took 5 guys to kill 1 camper and 4 of them died. It’s so stupid, and yet its been around since 2017. Get your heads out of your arses gaijin.
Mid map AA that is able to damage you is a stupid idea.
AF AA should only activate when a player is within 50m of the main airfield, and the range should be reduced to 3km. This would hopefully solve a lot of issues.
Yea it is, but there’s 0 chance Gaijin would agree to replace airfield AA with nothing, or something completely ineffectual. There’s so many AA emplacements on airfields that midmap AA would provide enough coverage to give leaks if you stay near it for too long, without being an instakill zone, so you’d be able to dive after campers and kill them and maybe take a hit in return.
Another game, another B18 going to space, and running to the airfield when you give them a three fucking kilometre altitude advantage. Managed to bait him a few times down, got a shvak spark, and then he fucked off to the airfield to win on tickets because of all of the wyverns earlygame.
I can’t play the damn game because this happens EVERY MATCH. Even if we rinse their air defence, they just get to run to the af and circle endlessly because they had a few attackers kill ground targets for a few minutes uncontested because of their forward airspawn
B18B is the bane of my existence. I literally had to get fmt3 guy to dive on me 3 times before I got an angle to shoot and didn’t get sprayed by gunners only because teammate diverted his attention. And these things have damage model of a goddamn tank.
Now, since it’s way more dangerous than f.e. P-38J (I eat these for breakfast) you’d expect it to sit higher in BR. But no such luck.
This is a typical case of insane performance plane being further unkillable due to AF camping and optional space climbing. And of course it’s being spammed along with Wyvern.
Tried G.56 - get BI in other team every 3rd game. The thing is unkillable. And even if you make him use up his fuel/ammo - no luck, because he can safely RTB and keep clobbering you. To some extent it applies to every prop vs jet matchup - you may damage the jet (it often requires insane amount of shots to land due to tank DMs) and it will just easily run away, repair and come back to make you miserable.

personally I think that the AA for airfields should be fast firing SPAAs that over a span of 60 seconds of being in a 4km range slowly shoot closer and closer until being nearly accurate, for lower BRs I would say M16s and Wirbles, and equivalents and for higher tiers M163s and ZSU-23-4s, and to make it more apparent make them use belts with only tracers so it gives warning and also deters people.

Been a week since I’ve tried props, there’s a good reason for that. Whenever I go for some prop gaming and do well, there’s always ticket bleed / airfield campers to ensure that the game is almost fun. Last match i had in the Yak-9UT, which is by no means an overpowered plane, I had a good experience and then had to deal with A7M and MB5 airfield camping.
My fighter teammates DIED because the enemy got a free chance to rearm and reclimb. We had a good teamwork going on, I was having fun with randoms and then they got slaughtered because of an AI no-skill mechanic. They didn’t deserve that after we beat the enemy team.
And that’s one example out of the thousands that have been presented here over the years. We should eliminate AI ticket bleed, eliminate airfield AA, make it 12v12 matchmaking and rework the maps.
Instead of having the primary base and the secondary base that are in a line, there should be two primary bases with a wide separation between them, on every map, just like air france. But oh wait, that map was removed from the rotation because it was ‘unfair’. So there goes my only reason to play props anymore, other than the nostalgia.

I score a kill vs j2M5 (30mm pay2win variant), but I see he can fly (typical for J2M5 and Wyvern), I want to kill him for good, but I get attacked by a Wyvern and end up killing 2 other guys.
Then I attack J2M5 after he repaired and killed one of my teammates. He flies towards AF. I shoot him good, score a crit and severe damage, and what does he do?
Gets back to AF which is conveniently 5km away.
He lands, I dive, use mountain as a cover, but since repairing critted plane takes about 10s nowadays, he gets teleported when I get within firing distance. I had to attack because I had 2m fuel left anyway.
My team loses, GG.
How fun and rewarding.
Also it’s so fun to live in an era of Mg151/20 being the worst 20mm in game BY FAR and Japanese 30mm still having made-up performance because reasons.
Airfield AA should only be active if a teammate is landed and on the runway and should stay like that for 1-2mins. It should not be active if someone is purely flying in circles and trying to bait people to fly to them and die to AAA.
As of now, if you’re alone and with a ticket disadvantage, you have two choices: continue trying to bait them to actually play the game and to fly far enough away from the AF so you can fight them, or go shooting ground targets and put yourself at a massive disadvantage since they’ll have all the time in the world to get speed and altitude advantages.
Airfield AA is a massive crutch to those who are unable to play the game. Every time I have managed to bait a fighter camping the AF to fly away and fight me on relatively fair terms, they have been easily defeated. Therefore it should be nerfed.
Also, prop-tier Airfield AA doesn’t have to HIT YOU to cause damage. It’s just hitscan and does a fixed amount of damage to every part of your plane. It should also be replaced with real AA.
I actually prefer the timer solution.
You get to the AF, there’s a timer. You have to leave AF zone within certain time limit or you get bailed out of the plane. The timer stops once you leave AF AAA zone.
The timer only slowly resets once you leave the much bigger zone around AF AAA zone.
Of course AF AAA should also be less effective than it is right now and it should only start firing once you touch down.
Edit: And IMO once you leave the zone, only once the timer is reset to zero, AF AAA will fire again. So you leave the zone - no AFAAA for you till you spend at least a few minutes way beyond AF AAA range

Just today I was killed my a mediocre player who only dared to attack me after I got hit by Airfield AAA - admittedly I was skirting the edge and trying to lure HIM out, but burnt my proverbial fingers. He was the final player. And he was too chicken to fight on equal terms.
We should be aware whom we are “protecting” here.

Running down a clock playing safely while in the lead is what near every professional sports team does when they need to… Why would peoples mindset change in a game? Im not saying its 4d chess level playing but frankly the amount of players I see shooting helppless players with no fuel that have fought hard and well makes AAA a necessity or you end up with scrubs telling good players they need teammate cover to refuel while these scrubs sit endlessly at side of airfield harvesting people who cant fight lol

Games are made to be fun, not frustrating, tedious, toxic and boring. And here problems can be easily removed by removal of AF AAA.
I would propose a solution that protects the beaten up player who needs repair and refuel, but not the coward waiting endlessly or circling endlessly.
How about airfield AAA is active as long as a repair timer ticks down and a minute after. No longer.
And it starts when a plane is near touchdown - use same mechanic as an airfield capture to start the AAA.
Why?
I mean, I shot someone up,. he lands, within 10s he’s repaired.
I have wasted fuel and ammo and now I’m facing the same plane who can easily regain position.
My favourite got shot down, landed, took off, got critted and further damaged, landed again, and at this point I was almost out of ammo and fuel, dove after him, when I got within 1km, he was already reparied because 10s repair time, I died to AAA.
The guy only accepted fights within 8km of his airfield.
I think making life easier for people who have clearly lost the engagement serves no purpose.
