Airfield AAA can shoot down guided missiles and bombs

Hello,

Airfield defenses are shooting down Fox3 missiles and, worse yet, all guided bombs and ATG missiles.
It’s unfair that we’ve been denied the ability to use this type of weaponry. Especially when ground targets on maps are often bugged, spawning under dunes, convoys traveling underground, bombs penetrating ships, etc. In short, we’ve been stripped of our targets without being given new ones.
I’m not sure if this is a bug or intentional, but it seriously hampers the gameplay and ruins the atmosphere.
Even if this was intentional to reinforce the airfields, it went completely wrong. Farmers with unguided rockets or napalm can still do so, while people bombing properly are completely ineffective in this type of tactical attack.
Please fix this, or restore the old order.

A more complete implementation was lacking; anti-radiation missiles (ARMs) for aircraft that can operate them, and the addition of more ground targets. We need more realism and dynamics, not less.

Anti-radiation missiles are also being intercepted. The only viable window to engage air defenses is when they have expended their missiles and are in the reload cycle. When multiple units are clustered, each of them engages both your anti-radiation missiles and your aircraft. In the worst-case scenario, you fail to hit anything and get shot down.

I have absolutely no idea how it’s done in real life. Just an idea, going beyond the strikers and reconnaissance aircraft that periodically appear in the match, add an ECM that would open a window for attack.

SIde effect of the new mode?

I noticed the Bradleys in Heli PvE now shoot at you too, as if that mode wasn’t bad enough already, assuming they will in Sim too

Those convoy vehicles were already firing even before this event was introduced.

What’s really astonishing is that they can’t implement changes to AI units for just a single game mode, yet hiding a player’s name (a feature tied to a premium account) is mode-dependent and currently doesn’t work in Air Sim battles — and they’ve been “fixing” that bug for about a year now.

HUH? Maybe because they are intended to do so to not let camp AFs?

I was taken aback by ItO 90M shooting down my AMRAAM 🤣

IMO I guess it’s about time airfield AA did that? It was always weird to me how they didn’t even try to intercept incoming bombs. Though, like someone else already said, it’s (along with iffy RWR) probably spillover from the Nuclear Thunder event.

No. The current situation is good.

this game already broken since new event nuclear thunder, missile got intercept, all bomb got intercept including dumb bomb

new anti radiation missile useless vs AI now, AA AI can intercept All kind missile and bomb
i saw B52 drop dumb bomb to AF got intercept by ito in normal SIM

It shouldn’t play at 10.7+ then. Below 10.7 there is no Ito.

I agree with your point of view; spaa is making it difficult for me to complete event missions. I really don’t need a perfectly flawless defense mechanism to prevent me from enjoying this game.

and the worse of all is small maps where bases spawn near the airfield, impossible to destroy as ito destroy you and ur bombs, this gamemode already luckluster ages ago with ground targets that give you like 10 points, i really hope they add more higher BR ground targets so that if you kill them with 14.3 plane give u decent reward instead of that bullshit 10 points

Honestly, sim is hard enough before this happened, i dont know why they thought sim needs this type of aa since managing to get to an airfield and either destroy it outright or kill the anti air was already a challenge but i cant imagine trying to kill the anti air with gnss bombs and having them all get intercepted will make the mode enjoyable. (Su-24M enjoyer so GNSS bombs are fun but FUCK the ito’s)

That’s the problem. GNSS bombs no longer reach the target in the airfield, they don’t hit modules, and they don’t hit AAA because AAA doesn’t have to reload its missiles; it simply fires effectively until it destroys all flying GBUs/ATGMs.

Maybe one of the decision-makers responsible for implementing this bug/improvement will finally respond to this issue or fix this situation.

I only played some sim before this shitty addition was implemented and the ITO’s were still major bullshit to deal with and it was even a struggle to hit the damn ito’s since the Su-24 doesnt get thermals which on maps with lots of vegetation makes it nearly impossible to spot them. but now the whole airfield spaa killing in sim has effectively been removed

it’s a sort of silence response to iron dome. players complaining about that and af’s defenses do exactly the same. On a side I’m happy because of no more spawncamp,

I saw players destroying airfield’s spaa’s with atgm, but as usual some got intercepted

You’re barking up the wrong tree.
