Air to Air Missles, What BR do I avoid them?

7.0 or lower. While 7.0 can be quite annoying due to the Super props, there aren’t any vehicles with AAMs you commonly face.

7.0 unless you see the german seahawk at 8.0, which has 2 AIM-9b’s but is quite rare. The lowest tier you can see player AAM’s though is technically 6.0 as the SK60B has MCLOS PF rockets although they are basically just fat AA.20 nords

Technically sabres facing early air to air missiles is correct.

soviet union managed to obtain and reverse engineer AIM-9B that got fired from ROCAF Sabre and got stuck without detonating in PLAAF MiG-17 during the second taiwain strait crisis 1958.

the lowest br they show up at is on 8.0 planes. so i suggest playing 6.7 if you have skill issue against
AIM-9Bs

Yes, to be quite honest mate my next plane on the plate is the British Javelin. It has a terrible turn time, but if you can work the throttle, and use the airbrakes,…prob not bad.
4 30mm cannons, 4 air to airs, at 8.3 BR, I think I can do something in it. LOL, plus it looks cool!
Yes, Im finding, you have to go down to around 7.0 now, but historically if you look at some of the Korean era planes, where are the Missiles, there are none.
I dont know if youre like me, but I have quite a few “top tier” jets, but I just get tired of 18km away airkills. BUT, I love the power of the jets, the climb rate…etc, they can do so much more than the props.
The people that generally play nowadays want missiles, and so they have catered to that, entry level prems at a high BR
Okay, thanks for your contribution mate, and good luck.

Youre, right, but I sure love flying my Spit Mk 24 against those early tier jets, they get a surprise!
Yes, thats the last frontier BR with no missiles in the equation it seems, right at about 7.3.
Thank You

thanks for your TIP. No, its not a skill issue against aim9Bs, but its a different story in a 1 v 1, and an enemy shows up all the sudden when youre involved in a battle, Oh probably not good with their cannon, and they can definitely fire off a paltry aim9b from 1100 meters away and smoke you.
Maybe I need to look around more, and play at that BR more, so I know the planes as well as in some other BRs…hmmm is that a Skill Issue?
Yes, but this topic was more in the frame of history, rather than the “skill issues” that we all have to some point.
I try to be humble on that, even DEFYN, the great Youtube pilot will admit to having Issues, but then he has good social skills.
Thank You and Good Luck, that made me think about looking through the research trees to better identify the jets at those “low BRs”.
Just out of curiosity, what are your skill issues?

Was just about to mention that lol.

More info:

The Aim-9B that got stuck became the K-13 series of missiles (R-3/R-13) and its subvariants. The Soviets never went far with the K-13 (Aim-9) platform, favoring the R-73. But the Chinese did, spawning interesting variants like PL-5, PL-6, and PL-9.

I have a plane that our mates dont talk much about, thats really super good, the JF 17. Its PLs are great in game, and the S10s at a medium range on down, remind me of Micas.
I do okay in it, but, believe it or not I think its because of its lack of power. It turns so quickly, it seems I can get in a notch, Just Like That.
I use it on the outskirts of the battle, so then I can get it back up to speed, cant wait to get into a good cannon dogfight in it, throttle and flaps are missing in BR 13 now, but Im a Me109 and Zero pilot in props, I miss a good jet dogfight, LOL
Thanks for your info mate, youre what the community is all about.

Jav is okay. Boom n’ Zoom tactics are within the limits of what it can do - Just be careful in dives not to snap the wings due to IAS surpassing.

I have top tier too, but I frankly despise it. Between the BR compression, the poor map design and how the gameplay is laid out it’s a garbage experience so rarely ever touch it.

My skill issue comes when I fight Tiger II’s i somehow always manage to hit the drivers optic on the top of the hull when aiming for the turret cheek, so I lose all shell penetration. It is a problem, then again, maybe I’m just that good

Shell drop over distance is why. Adjust your aim to account for distance or keybind sight distance control if you haven’t already.

Im getting the same way about BR 12.7 on up, its not what it used to be. Im wondering, is there some difficult programming factor where they cant stretch the BRs out to , say 16. I play in it at times when Im in the mood to put some thought into the radar, etc…but I fight 40 battles in a night, 3-4 of them are going to be in BR 13 on up, usually because I have such fine planes there like you prob do, I dont want to feel they are sitting in hanger for nothing, after all the work it took to get them.
Good Luck Mate and thank you for your contribution.

No, it’s not programming difficulty. Gaijin is simply being hardheaded and purposely incompetent.

LOL, one guy I like to watch on YouTube, I cant remember his name, he’s a Youtube Warthunder pretty dang good pilot, he straight out says its the frustration factor that makes these noobs want to buy the next plane, yeah mate I get it. Thats funny
Good Luck mate in your battles, this is my main hobby I must admit.

Yeah, but folks often learn sooner rather than later that each new vehicle is another stock grind of suffering and frustration. It’s a cycle that doesn’t end until you’ve maxed out an entire tech tree, then starts anew on the next one.

And good luck to you, as well. I personally still play this game only because of sunk-cost fallacy. I await the day that either the plug is pulled or something like WT but superior in every way finally comes along.

Mate, I will just conversate with you with this, I’m not a “Grinder”, sure we all have the next vehicle we want.
I play the planes I have, Ive only ever flown fighter planes in this game. Im one that only really likes to fly, but that being said, this game I have noticed over since the Beta years, isnt going to change…lol isnt that funny, but I mean to say, WT has its own physics, its not real world, but the key is to figure out how this WT world is, you see what I mean, learn the WT physics planet, thats what I try to do.
You see I dont Grind, I run into the next vehicle when I get it…Grinding for me has always eliminated the fun we try to have playing this game.
Ive been fortunate enough to buy my way ahead at times, but that being said, I have enough skills to jump ahead a BR and do well, its because I started in the Beta years, when you had to learn to dogfight and play with honor.
Is it suffering and grinding, or learning what the next thing can do, figuring out how to use that crap, and move on to the next best thing? Its all a matter of perspective mate. Thats my challenge, when I have a crappy vehicle, like a chess game, figure out how to use it and kill everyone you see in that “Thang” lol.
Hey mate, good luck and use what you have, this isnt a bad game, you just have to empty your mind of real world phyics, and adopt to WT phyics…Saavy?
Good Luck Bro, and forget about Grinding it will come.
Its like Superman, he has his own innate abilities, but his phyics are not the same as us Humans, theyre different, but thats the attitude to look at in game, this game is not the same as reality, have fun and learn WT phyics, then it wont be so frustrating, take it or leave it, I totally understand, dont Grind, have fun.

I have, I can normally eyeball it pretty well, my guesses at range are slightly off I guess, this really happens when I shoot at ranges of 1000 meters or more, I just need to remind myself to shoot slightly higher than I think I should… :)

Don’t get it twisted, friend - I don’t grind hard for anything anymore, either. I play mostly my premium loadouts these days precisely because I’m very over the grinding and my premium vehicles don’t come with the stock grind headache.

As for the condition of the game, we’re gonna have to disagree on that. This game has so many issues that Gaijin still fails to address after all these years and continues to create new ones - Like the Kh-38MT AGM that doesn’t actually exist - and then they hide and do nothing. But hey, if you enjoy it then good for you, man. Good luck out there.

Yeah. Shot dispersion over greater ranges can be a hassle sometimes.
