R-77 is a solid missile for the current furball meta we have and pair it with the flankers agility it’s not bad.
For big maps like Rocky canyon not so much lol

even on rocky canyon, just use the canyon itself to gain ground on the enemy while staying below the upper ridge to maintain stealth with your radar pointed at the interior of the canyon to detect incoming enemies before you fly up and over to ambush ppl nearby
Eh not my style personally
being not your playstyle doesn’t mean its not a perfectly valid way to reduce the downside of low range on the r77 on that map
Having used both Aim-120s and R-77s, I prefer AIM-120s at range, and R-77s at shorter ranges.
But in my honest opinion generally the Aim-120 tracks better and will usually hit the target unless you over g the hell out of it
Well true I personally only do that for stock grinding, once I get long range missile I stick high up. Though I guess most people call the R-77-1 bad because they have no idea what they are doing
based on?? they use the same seeker
Aim 120 within 10km is inferior to derby, darter, and R77
Past that 120 can be solid but is insanely easy to deal with even with low chaff and flare count on the Su-30sm in my experience
Playing air sim, I think the rate of my aim-120s missing is 1:14
Where as R-77(not -1) is about half 1:7.5
They may have the same seeker, but the last time I used them, they tracked pretty poorly above 8 miles. Under 8 miles they were really good.
Su-27 vs F-15E btw are the planes I flew
I think all I ever used was the Aim-120b, it was really good, scored most of my kills with it. 9m is also GREAT in sim.
R-77-1 is a very good missile, but it just tracks better at longer ranges, I found them easy to avoid in my F-15E, and when I spaded my Su-30, i felt like more launches were required to score a kill.
120B and A are identical in game

I liked the 120A, and B, haven’t tried the C, or 120D.
There has to be some differences between the A & B
120C is okayish at 20km and greater but for less turning power, R-77-1 essentially has better range and turning than the C and A/B
Based on what, because the seeker is the same.
No. 100% Identical copypaste. It is a software upgrade irl.
My experience using it in sim… like i mentioned.
I only fly sim
Then what does the 120D upgrade?
You know in game the Aim 7F and M at basically the same despite differences irl? Same here for the 120
So cite the difference between the missiles that would cause this, because we have access to every single stat in game
Again, if they’re identical, then I’m not certain.
I’m merely telling you my experience with them.
All I know is 12-16 mile A-120 launches usually would score a kill. I found them to be very reliable.
