Is it just me or does the aim9m feel worse now ? It refuses to lock stuff that’s further than 2.5-5km. It doesn’t lock people headon at all. Am I tripping ? I have played nothing but ground yesterday so that might be the reason for my lack of skill on the missile but it just seems to refuse to lock.

9m is still decent but id rather my R73 99.9% of the time tbh
This sounds like how its been since introduction. If the target isnt on reheat. You will not get a front aspect lock.
But there is a 2 year old report to get 9Ms quite majorily buffed in this regard

But they won’t buff them, “our engines cannot handle it” and you can already imagine the backlash from making missiles better. People already cry about Magic 2s and want them nerfed or removed, 9Ms being better will be something else.
The aim9m file has not changed for at least a month.

Ok so after testing I figured out what changed. Now its irccm is working on the rail aswell. Since its irccm is seeker shutoff it makes in impossible to lock or fire at ANYTHING when a singular flare is in the missile fov. So its basically countered by a singular flare now.
You are right, they are gimped/ broken.
I fired 4 of.them, close distance , from direct 6 o clock last night and the enemy just popped a couple of flares and didnt even evade. All missed. The last 1 700m which a 9B would of hit.
Went back to 13.0 flanker in disgust
