AIM-7M bugged?

I spaded the F/A-18A US techtree version 12.3.
It has 2 AIM-7M stock. This should be an improved version of the AIM-7F with improved seeker.
I think 30%, maybe even more of these missiles didn’t head to the target. They flew directly 1km in front or to the rear and missed the target completly. Even the enemy didn’t do any countermeasuring. It also feels like they are slower of the rail than the F version, while it should be the same rocket motor.

First I thought the radar of this plane would be bugged, But with the AIM-7F all works as usual.

Threads to this problem are from last year. Also I can’t find any bug report.

The problem isn’t reproducable in test flight.

thats just sparrow basics in wt

Please read correctly…

There isn’t a difference.

If you can, can you link the replays?

The only difference, looking at the datamines, is angleMax, from 55 to 60. This is presumably the gimbal limit. There should be no real difference between the missiles.

If you look at the replays in sensor view that may help in figuring out the issue.

min 2:40 I shoot at the mirage, the second the missile send this small single beam, it goes for another target. Then looses track or do some other weird stuff…

min 3:30 I shoot at the Su33 and the missile instantly leads way to much, crashes, while the Su33 is at 160m above ground.

I had this issue, it’s not just the 7M, it’s specifically sparrows fired from the F-18A that seem to fail to track properly, especially when fired at off-bore angles. Like having your plane on level flight at altitude and firing top down.

This didn’t happen for me with other sparrow carrying platforms such as the phantoms, tomcats, F-16s… etc. Just the F-18A

I haven’t played it lately, so I can’t tell if it got better or not.

As I said, this problem was only on the 7M, the 7F works fine.

They are exactly the same missile, only the name tag changes. It seems that the issue is derived from the F-18A itself.

This is in your head. There is no such difference.
