You do not know what “going cold” means. It does not refer to temperature.
Theres something called the Pulse-Doppler effect on the phantoms where the missile will go for speed instead of lock position. this will ignore chaff in a headon
have you considered not going to high alt then?
even the 7C is CW
i like going high alt i get more kills then i die from the f4e lol
Well im lately playing 11.0 at let me tell you these are the most op missile at the br at the moment, the only way to dodge is if they do BVR or fire from far, but the moment they attack you from 6km< there is little hope for you. oh and the moment you get a head-on vs a F-4 pray they dont have more AIM-7s
I still dont get why dont all F-4s get it too, like the UK F4 or German F4, they are the same model and they do carry AIM-7s IRL but they don’t in game for some reason.
But the Israeli and japanese one does
if youre in a headon with the missile and going fast, you can do some barrel rolls, cause sparrows are pretty bad at rolling
the british F4s get skyflashes which are effectively just an upgrade to the aim7e2
and the germans werent allowed to buy advanced missiles so the wiring needed for them was removed from their F4s
Be very very low. Sometimes it’s troll and they manage to radar lock you at a relatively low height so ground hugging will make you immune. But yeah don’t climb if uptiered vs the f4ej or better they have missiles you can’t just one chaff
You can chaff the radar but you still have to fly out of the radar’s cone.
Pop chaff then turn to the side.
most planes carrying the DF missiles have pulse radars, these usually are bad for locking unless at close range with ground clutter.
Its a coin toss if you survive or not, if you broken the radar lock. Because missile is a CW seeker and all the radar doing is searching targets for it.
the JA37C is coming
Imo it shouldn’t be 11.3. PD radar + CW SARH at this BR is crazy. Barely anyone play it so it isn’t 11.7
Gonna revive this slightly, But does the E-2 DF seem worse now? At least when pulling to hit targets?
It has not been altered, you are imagining things.
This missile is coded such that (or respective US radars) you will barely get a lock but the breaking lock will barely effect the missile once it is launched towards you.
AIM-7F is similar. Should be a type of conpensation for the lack of IOG in peer Russian missiles.
Anyways, generally avoid space climbing after 11.0, or start carrying a couple of chaff
Aim7 is continuous wave so as long as the jet is in the radar cone, the missile will still go for it evem if the lock changes to chaff.
If the radar is not locked to anything, the missile will explode after a couple seconds.
The pulse ones will go for any chaff thay shows up.
