I was using the SAAB 105G and a 300% booster. I was dropping bombs on the AI carrier’s escorts and I got a severe.

Match ended, my rewards were 70k SL for only giving severe damage to an AI ship, not even killing anyone or anything. What???

Yeah, severe on a ship will not give you a frag after the battle ended, only if the ship is sunk by someone else or sinks on it’s own (takes an eternity).
If you sink a carrier for example on a PB4Y, you recieve +2.3k SL
