tell me if i sound dumb but is adding the sr-71 only as an npc in realistic, and having it as a high-alltitude reconnaissance jet in ground realistic for 700-900 spawn points a good idea, along with having the yf-12 with aim-74 in ground realistic for 900-1200 spawn points.
Eh.
I think YF-12 would be a good addition as an event vehicle though.
This wouldn’t work. For one the sr-71 used cameras with film for recon so there would be no real time data given. The yf-12 would also be useless wit hthe aim 74 especially due to the limited map size. You would stright to the end of the map and be forced turned as you would not be able to maneuver.
It can’t even turn around within most air maps when at altitude and speed…
Map size exceeds AIM-47’s range below 10,000 meters.
yes but flying as fast as it could to avoid being shot down would limit the time you had to fire the missile as you cant maneuver at those speeds. Not to mention the tracking with the missile would be very poor and its a sarh missile so being able to keep lock with out being able to maneuver would be worthless.
I dont think CoD Style Killstreaks is a good idea. The game is already becoming too much like CoD with CQB Maps
But I would like them to add more non-player-vehicle models for Air Sim. Such as modern naval vessels. SAM systems with independent radar (like Patriot, S-300) and additional aircraft types such AWACS, Tankers, Strategic bombers and even recon planes like the SR-71.
That being said, adding Recon pods to existing aircraft or adding scouting to the current drone or aircraft with targetting pod is a possible idea
Some of the bombers in Sim EC already fly faster than the SR-71
Yeah… That is true.
Would be quite cool ngl.
Not really, cause you’re not facing many threats ~10.7 to begin with.
i mean historically, it would geta br of about 10.7-11.8 right?
Not really, it only has 3 missiles, no flares, and the least maneuverability of any aircraft.
To be fair the speed… may make up for that. Its probably fast enough to outrun a good chunk of missiles.
(Fun Fact: its top speed is still classified :))
Except you’d never reach or maintain that speed. Maps are too small. Youd, just spend the entire time bouncing from map edge to map edge.
You’d also have to consider the effects of altitude. Whilst yes the SR-71s were fast, they also flew quite high. At war thunder alts. I doubt they’d actually be fast enough to outrun most missiles.
There are sabres that go mach 3 on the deck already in sim
classified huh… hmmmmm (also: ‘Blackbird’s Top Speed was Officially Mach 3.2 but the SR-71 was Much Faster Than That,” former Skunk Works Engineer Says - The Aviation Geek Club)
You do retain speed when you bounce iirc…
I don’t believe that is correct, though I can’t say I’ve done it going super sonic, I have gone out of bounds at close to stall speed and was set back at a higher speed.
