Weapons do set damage based on class instead of ballistics.
Which is what you honestly need.
You can’t have realism with PVP historical reenactment games cause you alienate even more gamers.
It’s why Rising Storm 2 has Goldeneye gunplay too as that narrows the gap between skilled & unskilled players.

Sir, War Thunder doesn’t mock history. War Thunder is a WAR GAMES simulator.
War Thunder is FAR more realistic and immersive than every historical reenactment game on the market.
Why? Because NO ONE likes reenacting history with realism.
There’s a reason Verdun is the least popular historical reenactment game on Steam.
No one likes realism.
People prefer Post Scriptum, Rising Storm, Insurgency Sandstorm, HLL, and other Goldeneye gunplay games cause people prefer less realism with historical reenactments than realism with.
It’s also more enjoyable since people and voice chat end up being the reason for immersion.

War Thunder is a kiddies shoot em up that’s all. A bit of fun. Zero realistic about it so dont even bother looking for it. I have stopped looking for it and I recommend Wishie the OP does the same. Just enjoy the stupidity and have fun blowing things up.

War Thunder is realistic. You keep calling/implying adults are kids, and that is provocation that doesn’t help discussion.
War Thunder is already realistic, and M109 vs Tiger is just as realistic as the invasion of Normandy.
War Thunder takes place in 2024, we’re using well taken care of vehicles in war games.

Consistency with history is good, but to an extend. We want to have things accurate to their irl counterparts, but at some point we come against a wall that if we cross it, we enter a zone no one wants to be. If we wanted a full HISTORICAL game, we would need things like 10000x10000 players games, with fully destructable enviroment, changes in tank shells, tank armor ect to every single atom etc… While the Matrix engine can emulate that very well, but dagor cant do so.

Sounds great ,really does and it makes one realise how far Warthunder is from that.
No harm in the OP or anybody else longing for that to happen but I agree that WT went a different way a long time ago now.
War Thunder is like the Marvel /Disney franchise. It will never win an Oscar for acting but it’s a money maker. No shortage of people ready to defend the stupidity either as we can see above :)

Thats a very unique way to convey a joke. That emote most of the time means you are laughing at someone/something, better, you are laughing so hard you cant contain it. If you add it to the end of a sentence
that will be a obvious singal you are laughing at someone, not that it is a joke.

Devil was saying that the game was like that once but not anymore.
It was WW2 and it worked but those day are nearly ten years ago.
Maybe Gaijin could do War Thunder WW2 as a stand-alone game, but I doubt they ever will. To take WT back to WW2 you would have to cut a lot of post war spam from the game and reimburse players who invested in it. You would probably have to lose Sweden before 6BR and most of Italy, a good bit of the UK too.
