Yeah, that’s my point, lets see how the SM2s improved performance effects the R-77-1s before demanding better missiles for it. We really don’t need another Raf/MICA situation.

According to StatShark the SM2 is ~10 seconds slower when starting from 1200 km/h (Mach ~1.1) to 1524 km/h (Mach ~1.5) at 10 000 meters (or roughly 33,000 ft). Taking into account climb speeds (and speed bleed from said climbs in the -30SM2’s case), it should average to around 20-30 seconds slower time-to-speed for the Su-30SM2 with a typical air-to-air loadout.

why? the R-77-1 is performing fine and is very nice to use, theres no point in begging for a better missile when russia has a very competent one.

And at su30sm max speed was 1300 km
On other hand if use ef2k it will have more speed
Max speed on su30sm2 will not be bigger than ef2k, f15 or Rafael
Maybe su30sm2 will make situation better but if adding best russian ++4 gen fighter it need to have better missiles
And with new radar R27ER will become way bigger problem than r77m

Alright! Similarly, include PL15, AMI174, and Meteor.
You have 6-4 more missiles than them to compensate for “r-77 bad” or other shortcomings

Look if speed of su30sm2 will make situation better i agree that r77-1 is enough
Meanwhile everyone else this update:
- Near similar radar performance with a difference of ±20 degrees
- Mostly superior flight performance (where’s our missing lift, Gaijin?) in both a straight line and WVR
- Near parity in missile count for at least 1 nation
Depends on your launch parameters, C-5 can definitely effectively fly further than that

As a Soviet and US main, I say it’s too soon for that missile. R77-1 vs Aim-120C-5 is quite ok, I perform kills form both of them and it’s balanced
