Abuse of incendiary bombs in fighters

The abuse of this bombs is destroying Air Realistic Battles since BR 10.0; people who use fighters as bombers replace its FOX-1 and FOX-2 for incendiary bombs, they rush towards the bases and then they just die by stomping to the ground or be canceled by an enemy missile (Some people even commit teamkilling).

This is a huge fat problem 'cause air battles has become something boring and predictable, mostly the fault falls in the premium boys since they have no idea how to use a jet, they simply limit themselves to destroy bases, this affects the battle itself 'cause it loses its focus, it make life painful for the people who play with “Strikers” since those aircrafts are not meant for combat their best option to grind is killing bases; you cannot use a SU-24M as a fighter, or a F-105 either.

Incendiary bombs should be only available for bombers and strikers; Fighters should be forbidden to use this bombs in order to create a balanced game and to make each plane play as its role.

An alternative is drastically increasing the time it takes napalm to destroy a base, while decreasing the amount of initial damage it does.

but da grind

It doesnt help that 1 base gives basically the same rp as a player kill.

Would rather see bases removed from BRs without bombers, 8.0+? And a focus more on ground pounding with new better targets like from the SEAD event, maybe make airfields destructable after removing SPAA elements around them and remove the nerf to bomb loadout rp/sl entirely so there is ever a reason to bring more than just enough napalm for 1 base

Which negatively impacts strike aircraft and rewards, and is thus a nerf to War Thunder’s rewards which would correctly cause a riot on the forums.

Napalm is even better to kill a base than real bombs. This should be adjusted. Jets need less weight in napalm canisters than strikers need HE bombs. Add speed fuel settings to this and you understand that real strike jets can’t even get close to a base before all get bombed by jet fighters.

Bases need an eternity to respawn, so if you can’t get a base at match start, you can just crash your Tornado into the ground. Just played like 4-5 matches in Air RB and just got a single base. You can’t compete with fighters and the whole premium Tornado became pointless. You can’t grind.

Fighters should not be allowed to take A2G in the first few minutes of a match. You should actually be helping your team to win. Fly out, then have quiet time as the enemy team has mostly been killed/is retreating? Then sure, you can get bombs or napalm. But the first contact determines how the entire game will go, and its not fun having tons of dead weight especially when they are using great planes like the F-4S and doing nothing for the team.

As well, actual bombers and strike fighters always seem to lose out on base bombing because of this. They already suffer enough as is.

The main issue with removing A2G at the start, is that fighter bombers/multirole planes are harmed by restrictions like that. A Phantom couldn’t bring some bombs/rockets to either bomb a base/ground target, F-104s would be made even worse, or something like a T-2 or Mig-19 couldn’t bring rockets to use as makeshift flares.

I sympathize, but that has more to do with terrible balancing issues that are present, and is not just a taking A2G problem. As almost always, decompression would help. Perhaps the T-2 and Mig-19 shouldn’t be facing 9Ls and R-60Ms, crazy thought, I know.

Blame BR compression and stock grind.

BR compression - For example, the MiG-23ML/D R-60M is simply horrible at 12.7 (yes, I think planes should be also judged by how they perform in a full uptier), that it is better to just use its superior speed to bomb. In addition, your RWR, radar are all horrible, with a small SARH missile count. But what do you have? That’s right, you are among the fastest planes in game on sea level, so you multipath your way to the base.

Stock grind - Usually rockets/bombs are unlocked relatively early compared to actually competent missiles (and quantity) which is usually tier 3-4.

That’s why fighters just bomb and go for ground targets.

The problem isn’t with fighters using napalm on bases. The problem is that air RB is a team deathmatch mode that does not reward ground attack. The bases are an afterthought as a means for people to earn some RP if they’re incapable of competing in air combat either due to an absence of competitive aircraft or due to an absence of player skill.

Even if they completely removed bombs from fighters, which they won’t and shouldn’t, your problem wouldn’t be fixed because there still aren’t enough bases to go around for all of the ground attackers.

I’m going to copy and paste from a previous post that I made in a thread a few days ago that was identical to this one:

What really needs to change is that the maps need to change. For one, there really should be more bases and more targets. One attacker player has enough firepower to wipe out half of the bases. There just aren’t enough targets to go around. But furthermore the ground targets shouldn’t just be defenseless bases. There should be serious objectives on the map.

MatAWG had an interesting video the other day displaying an intriguing custom battle where there were multiple bases along the frontline, and the skies over the bases were controlled by a mix of close range AAA like Strelas and longer ranged AAA like the S-75. That’s something more akin to what the battles should be. Air RB should NOT be a 16v16 team deathmatch. Right now ground attack is useless towards winning battles and exists just as selfish and brainless way to score points for people who either aren’t skilled enough to compete in PvP or who are unfortunate enough to be playing a nation that lacks viable fighters at that BR.

It would be a good thing if theater level AAA could disrupt the team-deathmatch meta and give a purpose to multirole loadouts and dedicated ground attackers that can seriously threaten such AAA.

I dont support PVEs. I think current mode is fair. I prefer the developers not touch the mode.

Every time they involved a mode with AIs, they tend to screw up really badly.

the AIs are either useless and gives very little rewards, or are completely OP. We naval players know this better than anyone else.

People using weapons within the rules and by their own choice is not “abuse”.

Whining about it is still whining tho’.

At least, some can wipe out all bases twice over:

Spoiler

I would like to see the massive empty areas on the sides of the maps have hardened bases with layered defenses that require peeling away with stand off weapons then hit with heavy bombs to destroy.
The larger maps with all the objectives still clustered in the middle just means there is a huge area nobody flies in, which also means the attackers are forced to fly straight in to all the fighters to hit bases or ground targets. Spreading it out more would probably help game play in general.

The problem with this is that it doesn’t do anything to address the core problem that every SINGLE ground pounder a direct detriment to your team since the game mode is TEAM DEATHMATCH and ground attack does next to nothing to assist.

The core problem isn’t that fighters are wasting their time using napalm to steal bases from bombers. It’s that bombers can’t do anything to contribute to a win in the current game mode. We need to fix the game mode so that ground attackers matter. When there are actual objectives on the ground that matter towards winning the match, then it won’t matter if a fighter drops some bombs on them too since there will be more than enough ground attack jobs to go around.

HOW COULD strike aircraft be impacted NEGATIVELY when MiG-23ML and MiG-21bis with napalm are the best strike aircraft in ARB???

I THINK THERE IS NOTHING CAN BE WORSE TO STRIKE AIRCRAFT THAN CURRNET SHITSTORM FOR F-'S SAKE

unless Gaijin finally decides to ban strike aircraft from ARB

That’s what the layered defenses are for, if you just charge in you die and a hardened base would be immune to napalm.

So make the destruction of the hardened bases a victory condition like airfield destruction, but FAR harder to achieve.
Also wasn’t the ability for ground attack to affect the game was reduced because people complained about them having too much impact on ending the match?

A “destroy this to win” objective is a terrible idea because then you’d have the random teams splitting their efforts between two mutually exclusive objectives.

gaijin nerfed the rocket spam to bases and buffed napalm to what it is now IN THE SAME UPDATE

Napalm probably should be changed to do less initial damage and slower tick damage as it just removing a base like a big bomb from a actual bomber is stupid and ruins it for the high tier bombers.

I’m not really sure how you can have useful attackers but not a way to win by attacking ground targets.
And the teams already split up to go after Air/ground/ bases, it’s just all in the same small area so the attackers get stomped before they can do much.
