If u ignore the lower front plate hull armor and the A3 round, The current Abrams now finally gets accurate Side Turret Armor, A proper Trunnion and while currently not fully implemented the Side Skirt Composite will be added + more detailed composite models, looking at all this I feel the Abrams is closer than ever to being complete… Atleast in the Turret.
Which is why it stings to see that the Fuel Steel Cell Bulkheads were randomly changed from the already low 19mm to 9mm making the front hull protection even weaker, seemingly with no source or elaboration:
This contradicts a report accepted 3 years ago:
Community Bug Reporting System
Citing a Military Handbook (Military Handbook Design of Combat Vehicles For Fire Survivability (MIL-HDBK-684) that gave the bulkheads a 25.4mm value thickness, said with an “s” plural so every single bulkhead plate from the front fuel tanks should have a 25.4mm thickness value
Full Page:
The Info:

2nd page

“Four fuel cells are located in the hull and are armor protected” and that “steel bulkheads, 25.4 mm (1 in.) thick separate these fuel cells from the driver.”
Notice:
- fuel cells (plural)
- bulkheads (plural)
- armor protected
That language suggests a protected, armored compartment, not just a lone sheet of 9mm steel at the back.
However contrary to it being corrected during the time it was being actively remodeled, it was decreased?

Even primary sources aren’t enough these days, gaijin think they know better than the people testing a round.
We have a British army report from the development of l27a1 clearly stating it exceeds the requirement to penetrate a t-80u frontally through the era at combat ranges and they had the audacity to use in game protection analysis to say it actually can’t.
The game says they can’t because of their modelling, and they use the game to deny a primary sourced British army document which says it can. Bear in mind the British had a t-80u in possession at this time but gaijin think they’re smarter and know more than the people developing the round.
So yeah, sources don’t mean crap and they just make it up to match their own agenda.

cmon, vro, Kh-38MT is real, LMURs aren’t selectively treated, same ERA can be used multiple times, the hidden plates around the autoloader and turret crew is legit, stalin is sitting on the 30mm cannons to stabelise them, all is real no cap no cap
On topic though, are the 16mm that much? I mean, something like a 2S38 might kill you slower, but anything can just shoot your turret ring to make you a vegetable
I forget the exact number, but does that put it below the thickness needed to create spall?
If so, that would actually be a buff.
Still creates alot of spall
At least 8mm to reliably create spall? I think it was something like that?
A hidden 6mm plate around the T-80BVM’s autoloader doesn’t create it
Abrams got added to the britain tree so armour must be lowballed even harder
