Abrams have never been a weak tank (at least after reload buff) It has always be a pretty good tank however i would still like it to get its turret ring fixed (pls gaijin it has been 2 years since bug report)
TLDR: Your 100% correct, the overall strengths of the ABRAMS means it still is better than the T-series even if they have niche areas where they are stronger I.e. LFP size and UFP protection don’t outweigh the reload, round and speed. however personally the QOL issues when in a average or below average players hands makes it worse than if they were to play the t-series. This is probably where are opinions differ you are probably much better than I am at ground.
Yeah, I will fully admit I am not a amazing ground player since my focus is primarily on air so what I tend to personally rank things on, is their survivability and QOL.
All have in general overview much better capability than the t-series, especially when in hull down or any long distance shooting with cover, in these situation I believe it is the best tank in game nothing can change my mind on that. The only thing it was missing was the LWR over other tanks which it has now.
The m1 at 10.7 is the exception to what I’m about to say, that thing is IMO the single best 10.7 tank.
however why I ranked them to be roughly similar is cause in all honesty I am not a master of ground I am pitiful at it when it comes to CQB matches specifically(which seem to be the only ones in my match maker, like come on.) this leads to me seeing it as just less fun to take out, massive weak spots that are very easily penned by all rounds at such close distances and if your flanked at all even like 2-3 autocannon shots to the side completely destroy your ability to fight unless someone takes out the IFV.
Now that isn’t really that bad and in a player who is good hands they probably would never be in that situation but I legitimately cannot figure out how your meant to play the Abrams in CQB matches it cant play COD like I watch t-series players and some Swedish leopards due, it feels to big and easily crippled by flanks to hold angle for 30 minutes like some players.
I personally felt it didn’t fit either of the two playstyles well in the slightest which is why I overall ranked it tied with the t-series obviously giving a bit of lee way for it to be better or slightly worse. you definitely have more experience especially on ground so your evaluation is probably more accurate but the QOL features gives it the experience of a bad tank despite not really being bad in the slightest.
Sidenote I do kinda want to get back into it to actually use my AH1Z and ah64E, so time to relearn the game lol.
so if anyone has a single good guide regarding ground top tier that would be appreciated I do really good on the rare large maps but the common maps I simply cant find a playstyle that either works or feels enjoyable to play. I do kinda want to get back into it to actually use my AH1Z and ah64E, so time to relearn the game lol.
I see this a lot what even is the bug? is it the same as the trunnion armour one or is it a separate thing.
I think this is aimed at those people claiming it’s “completely unplayable”, not those asking for legitimate bug fixes, and the Abrams turret ring getting penned by 30mm APDS is pretty ridiculous, but it also wont make much difference against another MBTs round.
Does not matter to me. After i first played with a leopard and i frontally did not die from a 30mm, It made me so happy. I just want the turret ring be able to stop autocannons and be realistic that’s it. Beside the turret ring that giant lower front plate would still be a weak spot anyways. Also gaijin pls move the hydraulic pump to the right place
You can read this bug report about it for better understanding
https://community.gaijin.net/issues/p/warthunder/i/hn6WHPVB7r3K
sorry I confused that a bit, that was an argument for why it should be buffed as it wouldn’t affect it’s balance vs other MBTs, and autocannons are over preforming to a horrific degree and MBTs are far to vulnerable too them, for a variety of reasons.
I mean, if you get shot at in top-tier you’re usually dead anyways, regardless of what nation you’re playing.
At least with the M1 I get the opportunity to fall back at a decent rate Cough T-90M Cough.
T-series? Hopefully you mean the Type 10, because the T-80BVM is incredibly mid, the T-90M is downright bad and the T-72B3A is among the worst top-tier vehicles period.
Regardless, the issue with US top-tier is and always has been it’s playerbase, even with the IPM1 now being so grossly undertiered it’s stats still aren’t anything special.
I don’t expect the M1A2T’s stats to fall in line with the US counterparts over time, especially if the M1A1 Click-Bait goes on sale at any point again which tends to absolutely destroy US winrates.
With that picture in mind, I’m scared to even talk about how cracked Tiger II actually is when it’s performing this good, even in German mains’ hands.

huh?
Abrams was never shit in the first place. I can do pretty well with it some games and complete dogshit in others, but that applies for every player. I have positive k/d in the sep and clickbait, and that’s it lol. Still, my point still stands. 5 second reload and insane mobility go brrrrr
I don’t want it in other tech trees because Copy Paste sucks.
But yeah, the problem with the US most of the time is the players. This is the case in Air RB too. I will do extremely well and then get gimped because I have no team. Or, I will get 1v5d because my team sucked and I have no team.
In ground RB, it generally comes around as a lack of support in a coordinated push, unreasonably dumb pushes, and a lack of “team empathy”- i.e. helping repair when possible and covering flanks, stuff like that.
Edit: my stats in it aren’t great, I am aware. But I still manage to pull above a 1:1 KD. It’s really not a bad tank especially when you squad up or find decent teammates to play with.
I think I have some advice that will help:
Think of where the enemy will go on the map. Use the knowledge of all your previous matches on enemy player positioning, and think where this enemy will go.
Always be prepared for the route you choose to have enemies.
Always be aware of sight lines.
Remember the survivability onion: Don’t be seen, if seen don’t be shot at, if shot at don’t be hit, if hit don’t be penned, if penned don’t die.
Use sound to identify tanks on smaller maps.
M1A2T isn’t copy-paste.
How does it vary in any meaningful way from the Abrams series. If it is none, then it is by definition copy paste.
I wish gaijin understand the same thing when it comes to T80s and T90s because realistically they are the worst designed tanks ever. We’ve watched for 3 years as they get hit with a drone with a RPG head and the ammo instantly detonates 99% of the time wheres that in Warthunder? Lol Gaijin copes sooo hard for Shitty Russian equipment.
It’s already in the game ?
0 Surprise. It was always the second best MBT in-game. Only the US mains complained about it being bad
Probably the meta chasers/multi nation players more than it is the Chinese players being much better.
None of these things matter for these stats since these stats are only for last month specifically.
If anything the M1A2T should have lower stats this month than the US M1A2s due to more people needing to stock grind it, although the M1A2T does have one of the easiest stock grinds at top tier.
2A7s and Strv 122s still beat it, but it was always only behind those tanks in the rankings.
