Given that the VT5 and ZTZ59 (a counterfeit version of the T54) have similar dimensions and weights, would you believe that the side of a T54 could be penetrated by a machine gun?
鉴于 VT5 和 ZTZ59(T54 的仿制品)尺寸和重量相近,您会相信 T54 的侧面能被机枪击穿吗?full sentence
I dont think gaijin employees are focusing on REALISTIC vehicles, maybe they are just focusing on something they believed to be true, ignoring most of the suggestions provided by players. whatever, i want the game to be better, may be gaijin should improve it’s product chain to support more reasonable community issues to be approved, instead of endless “Not a bug” and “Not enough info” without anyother detailed explaiin.
It is technically implausible for a lightweight main battle tank like the VT-5 to lack side armor protection against 12.7mm machine guns. It’s basic common knowledge that 30-ton class MBTs and 10-ton class vehicles like the 2S25 belong to entirely different protection paradigms. Gaijin’s decision to conflate these distinct armor concepts in the game’s damage model demonstrates a fundamental misunderstanding of modern armored vehicle design principles, which frankly undermines the simulation’s credibility.
Whether Gaijin is working on the VT4 or VT5, their performance metrics are always fictional. Their claim that they have never neglected any vehicle line is simply a joke.
I can’t imagine that a 12.7mm machine gun could penetrate the hull of a VT-5.
It can be “forwarded as a suggestion” to get never fixed just like most of protection reports, because Gaijin needs exact values to change something they’ve modelled based on pure assumptions.
Ariete as an example:

Especially funny how they fixed the weight of add-on kits with this report, but without taking into account protection revision:
https://community.gaijin.net/issues/p/warthunder/i/W8IuSjlhftU7
And now we have WAR armor, according to all available sources intended to protect against kinetic energy (direct hits of APFSDS), which in the game makes it worse than Kontankt-1, it literally just adds 5.5 t of “heavy air” to the vehicle…
I don’t understand why Gaijin would classify the VT5 as a lightweight main battle tank with armor that can only withstand machine gun fire. This is a 33-ton tank, yet it can’t even achieve full immunity against 12.7mm caliber machine guns. I believe Gaijin shouldn’t nerf the VT5’s performance this unreasonably.
Always cherry-picking historical narratives as a cover-up. The community has already provided more than enough factual information, yet they persist in ignoring it to fabricate their own baseless statistics. This isn’t just about VT5 - we’ve seen this pattern play out far too many times.
I think now VT5 is so ridiculous in WarThunder .If the developers don’t have enough “authentic and trustworthy” information, then you don’t have to create such a funny thing that most players will definitely laugh at you GAIJIN.
I think Gaijin should also disclose the source of his vehicle information when making a new vehicle, which can prove the reason for why he made it this way, rather than unilaterally requiring players to submit certain information when modifying the vehicle. This is very unreasonable and can lead to many problems
For example, there is no channel for publicizing the production progress of the vehicles in the dev server. For example, when this version of J11B first opened the dev server, the radar was still Su27
N001? This is clearly a mistake, but many players are unaware, so it is best to publicly announce the production progress. I don’t know if this VT5 tank is completed or unfinished? Will this turret basket be modified? Or is this turret basket just a temporary measure?
Strongly agree and support your point of view.
i agree
yes, you are right
I completely agree with your perspective. The current VT5 is entirely a fictional creation.
unless developer can prove vt5 actually has the turret cage or there is no reason to put it on the vt5.
if developer has the information of the current armor of vt5 in the game, we won’t have so much conversation.
true,Gaijin should treat this problem sincerely, instead of creating an unhistorical tank that doesnt exist
fix it ! gaijin!
Gaijin really should be making more historical accurate tanks instead of just making it up.
The current situation is essentially taking the real-world VT-5 and reimagining a fictional VT-5 that doesn’t actually exist. The catastrophic misrepresentation of its internal structure and armor constitutes a disastrous fiasco. This demonstrates utterly irresponsible treatment of Chinese tech tree players and a half-hearted approach to game development that’s chilling to witness.
