Ehh… It might need to be 9.3 with no CMs at all and SRAAM buggy as hell, but would be better to see SRAAM fixed
2km range, All-aspect (or at minimum decent side aspect angles) , non-broken TVC. Would be a good 9.7 again then

It already locks on afterburning enemy in a head-on. As far as I’ve seen the range is accurate
Bug reports attached to my post. Its really not
I guess it would be 10.0 again just like how All-aspect missile was biggest problem in that BR blankets.
Which is why I could accept them not giving it all-aspect for the sake of “balance” but instead just giving it really good rear and side aspect shots, like 90 ° off tail. So could engage people reasonably effectively in a dogfight but wouldnt be totally broken.
Honestly, I didn’t climb much because Harrier GR.1 has no CM or RWR, and if the enemy team has Mirage IIIC/CJ, MiG-21S, or MiG-21SPS-K, I will be sent back to the hangar by their SARH missiles.
Only things what I did was spam SRAAMs against flareless jets.
I always climb, staying low is suicide. It’s super rare I’m not the highest plane in the battle. I side climb to not be seen first and then fliy over the battle. Diving from height means their Max speed soesnt matter, 1.2km launch will very rarely be flared or fail to hit from top down. I’ve always found this to be easy and repeatable being very rare I’m missiles by radar or outclimbed.
How you have matches where you can climb and not catch a SARH is beyond me. Never had that experience in my GR. 1 - Couldn’t climb because I’d catch SARHs or magics from that scum A-5C and flying low ran the risk of catching an All-aspect from an A-10 or Su-25 provided I wasn’t dogpiled, first. Didn’t matter if I took a side flight either because once I was spotted people were on me. SRAAMs are so trash they really only worked on energy-trapped people - provided they had no CMs - or as decoys to stop all-aspects.
GR.1 is a miserable aircraft to play, even as a premium. Almost as bad as the F-84F.
A10 and su 25 are never getting close enough to aim9 you and as I said I’ve never found missiles to be a problem with a side climb. Maybe your not to the side enough?
Trying the gr1 rn. Horrible experience so far.
If anything is up at alt with you, you have to try to dance around to avoid them. You have no cm so you also have the dance around anything with aams. Doesnt help that sraams need to be within 1km to hit and anything with flares will hard counter you.
The hunter can at least dogfight so it it is not as bad.
Again, I want to match with the people you match with because our experiences are completely opposite.
Never get close enough? I mean yeah, but if you want to get close enough to hit them, they 100% are now close enough to hit you lol, the A10 especially isnt a plane that has issues with turning to engage you if the pilot has basic awareness.
For “side climb”, do you mean climb to the side and wait for the initial combat to begin in which its likely those with SARH have already started using them? Because those are kind of 2 different strats, and if your strat is literally “wait until the enemy doesnt have the missile anymore” its not exactly the ringing confidence you are making it out to be.
not with SRAAMs. as shit as they are rn they dont belong facing korean era jets
No I just climb to the side to about 4k alt then level out an do passec over the battle boom and zooming on targets.
While I agree that most 8.3 aircraft with no flares shouldn’t see a SRAAM carrying harrier in their BR, that goes for 8.7 as well. What’s necessary is a comprehensive reshuffling of the BRs above 7.7, now that we have decompressed top tier.
But reshuffling notwithstanding, the GR1 is totally outmatched against most aircraft it faces. The best example is the other 9.7 SRAAM carriers. Jaguar GR1 and Hunter F6 both have better airframes and their own advantages. Harrier GR3 has CM and can afford to dive into a furball.
The GR1 can’t turn, can’t go fast, and must get within 1 km of a flareless enemy to reliably get a kill, while having no flares itself. The win condition for GR1 is very hard to satisfy.
Okay after reading through your suggestions, I’ve played 7 games with the GR1.
My experience remains unchanged. I can reliably get 1 kill, or survive with none. The outlier was a 4 kill game against 8.7 jets. I also found that it’s common to face MiG21SMT/MF and other SARH carriers that will climb and just ruin your day. Or an A10/Su25 that will all aspect you and press the ‘I win cause I got close’ button you think the SRAAMs are.
Can use your own SRAAMs to fire on the all aspects but it is kind of waste,or take SNEBs on the other pylons as makeshift flares for all aspects.
Problem is 9.3/9.7/10.0BR decompression is still not done.
There are far too many aircraft in there BR that should have a higher BR just like F-104A/C, EEL, T-2, F-104J etc.
Maybe, even Harrier GR.3 and AV-8A/C, Hunter F.58 can go 10.0BR if you compare against GR.1.
Played a lot with it recently, still too high at 9.7.
9.7 still unfair. SRAAM are bad, still no flare against enemies missiles, so its weak.
9.3 would be the best place for it. (but after decompression: 9.7 can be… maybe)
It’s annoying they still haven’t fixed SRAAMs. Makes any talk of balance/BR placement far harder when the only reason for it being above 9.0 is bugged beyond recognition.
After that, yeah, decompress is needed. The fact the 5 harriers are the same BRs and have a range of performance is just messy
