oh its simple, ground pilots are somehow even worse than air realistic pilots, so things like the zero and the re2005 just eat 95% of the things it runs into.
The Zero’s keep getting uptiered due to the skill issue of the enemies facing it and instead of the enemies admitting to that, developing proper counters (maintaining your speed + energy), they instead whinge about it on forums. And/or Gaijin basing their balancing on player’s performance instead of their raw performance stats. Which is becoming increasingly apparent that’s a especially stupid way to balance a game, also considering that can be very easily weaponized by bad-actors.
I wouldn’t say skill issue. I’ve noticec people hate passive players. (Specifically people who cater to the boom and zoom playstlye) and that quite literally is one of the best ways to beat the zero, but of course to most players, it’s “boring”, “unengaging” gameplay. Meanwhile the zeros don’t rip at high speeds or even compress, their flight model is quite literally a ufo and you have to be a very patient player to fight a zero, while the average player can pick it up and work wonders.
Must be at least 12.0 so the USA mains can use their PD radars, any lower and they will lose it in the ground clutter.
Yeah, they also are usually flying the less maneuverable planes that carry heavy bomb loads and I have noticed many of them refuse to jettison their bombs in a fight, they not only try to do a low and slow turn fight with a Zero, they try to do it with a few thousand extra lbs of high explosives hanging off their plane.
Although I have done a close pass on a CAS plane and hit his bombs blowing us both out of the air… so I guess at least he cleared the sky for the next CAS.
Zeroes perfectly highlight why basing an aircraft’s BR on player statistics is completely stupid. The entire system should be reworked and based on aircraft performance.
Could you imagine a racing game etc working with this system? “Yes we know you think it’s unfair that you have to race your Renault Clio against a GT500 Mustang but the statistics show that certain players keep spinning out in it… have fun!”.
I still don’t know why Gaijin doesn’t give us our historical battles back with the historical line ups. Not only were they great fun but they were better balanced than traditional War Thunder.
Yanks wanna put their NASCAR in the Bathurst 1000 then cry when Mount Panorama kicks their arses!
For those that don't know
Well, in GRB turn fighting is even more meta than in ARB. Not much of a surprise.
Most players who will try to turn fight a Zero in an American BnZ plane aren’t even in a position to “admit it” because they’re clueless and don’t know what they’re doing wrong. They will just assume their plane is bad.
They’re also not the type of player to frequent this forum… Their stats are what pull their vehicles down.
From my pov you scratch the problem just on the surface.
The main issue is that flying an A6M requires zero skill in Air RB when two average players meet each other - simply because the BnZ / BnDive tactics against an A6M requires training whilst turnfighting with an A6M is done by the autopilot / mouse aim and requires just point and click.
The picture changes completely when an experienced US player meets an experienced A6M player - then the A6M has “zero” chance. This is, ofc, not mentioned by most as the main tenor “insane BR adjustment” works just with the assumption that a whole team of experienced A6Ms players would meet a whole team of experienced US players - every match.
That 90-95% of players of both teams have little to zero clue what they are doing explains the relative success of A6Ms - and their BR increase rather easily.
I share this view. I was just more narrowly commenting that this isn’t a case of someone “denying their skill issue” as usually the players involved have no clue there is more to air combat than turn fighting; and that you’re not likely to find such people on the forums, where instead you’re likelier to get an echo chamber of people who “know what to do” and who vastly overestimate the average player’s experience level.
This is a horrible idea. Historical matchups in WarThunder are not balanced at all.
Yes they were, they were pretty popular as well.
Zeroes fought their actual opposition alongside the Ki-61’s etc against Hellcats and Wildcats. The only line-up that people complained about was Stalingrad due to Russia having the Yak-3, yet the Germans still got the 109G-6 which was more than capable of dispatching them.
It wasn’t perfect, but it’s a damn sight better than what we have now. Like I said in an ideal world Gaijin would balance aircraft by actual performance.
Every time they have done historical matchups it just turned into people dogpiling into one side that had massive advantages.
Why would anyone flying P-51D-5 with 100 octane against Ki-84? One plane is significantly better in basically every conceivable way and the other is the P-51.
The Hellcats that we have in the game are representative of 1944 models. Add the historical F6F-3 and watch it get completely obliterated by A6M2 and A6M3. Same can be said for the P-47 variants in the game; not a single one doesn’t have water injection or 370 gallons internal which is a late 1943 / early 1944 variant.
historical teams maybe, like axis vs allies and NATO vs Warsaw.
Maybe based on operator so you can have PROC vs ROC or FRG vs GDR, tho it may only work for ARB
But maybe historical battles can stay as events, maybe just make the event tab noticeable for new players, just flash “new event!” or “historical battle available!”
would be actually cool
(no more US + GER against everyone else)
imo there can be some historical matchups which are okay
but a lot are also super one sided
Any historical matchups should really be limited to events. Otherwise it’s boring and exploitable.
not rlly?
(like if you mean nation matchups)
It’s exploitable because it narrows the meta.
By removing a major variable from the MM, you make it much easier for experienced players to predict for example what the distribution of players will be like at certain BR brackets due to the popularity and availability of their kit. Then they can choose their lineups accordingly to farm people based on this understanding.
That’s before we get into the issue that this way some vehicles will never fight each other, thus removing potential counters (and making it harder to balance vehicles).
The human element of MM is often overlooked in these discussions and that’s a fatal error.
We just had a historical event.
Guess what happened after about a day? Players figured out how to optimize it for rewards. The intended way to play the Korea Black Friday event basically guarantees the RU side wipes the AI bombers and the A-5 Sabres might get a kill in the process.
Here was the optimal way for the US team to play it.
Just load Sabre with bombs and hit the airfield was guaranteed wins for USA team.
Like either way you split the event it is just crap. And the most recent one is basically the same event they ran in 2017.
