No. But it is better then just sitting around and waiting for Gaijin to do something.
Do Gaijin even see a problem? Do they even agree ? We dont know do we?
I spend plenty of time in SPAA, it’s just not a solution to the problem.
You mean realtime rangefinding?
This is only really helpful for players who go back to base to rearm-which is not the vast majority of CAS players, unless Gaijin gets rid of airspawn for CAS.
Right, so it’s barely useful and they still get AA protection anyways, yet ground forces don’t get it.
We can only guess. As long as we lack information on that topic. We can only adapt or quit. I know it sounds a bit simple. But if you break it down to the basics. They are the two dumbest but true answers.
If we always rely on others to create the circumstances so that we feel comfortable, we can sometimes wait a long time for this to happen.
The best example is politics … we have a lot of power as a collective body of players. But we prefer to bash each other’s heads in because we don’t like the other person’s answers.
In the end, Gaijin wins no matter what.
Honestly, thats integral part of Warthunder GRB design and its the only way, combined battles can work.
Now, are there parts of design that make it harder for you? Yeah, definitely.
The whole grind philosophy stands in a way of lineup idea. The higher you go, the more time consuming it is to create versatile lineup and it can be commonly seen that people just tunnel vision grind towards one vehicle, not a lineup.
In my opinion, GRB was designed with assumption that most people have planes unlocked already and won’t specialize in ground vehicles only.
Which at the time was probably correct assumption, but a shortsighted one, that is now part of the problem.
CAS at 5.0 - 8.0 should be disabled. It is too strong for the current game mechanics which do not allow interception of CAS before they’re over the battlefield. Preventing CAS from reaching the battlefield would help to balance its performance and allow it to remain in the game mode.
It is very easy to intercept CAS- you just have to spawn a fighter/interceptor your second life.
“in your second life” is not interception it is a response.
Not necessarily. For example, lots of German players spawn BF-109s and FW-190s preemptively.
The flow of the battle usually goes something like this:
US players rush cap points, get a few kills, die, and spawn CAS. German players do the same and spawn fighters, CAS, or SPAA. SPAA is a “response” to CAS, but it still is capable of dealing with it. Fighters do it even better. All you have to do is preemptively spawn fighters.
Hence the direct solution of allowing first spawn of fighters as it’s the only real counter to CAS.
But fighters carry ordinance and have cannons that obliterate light tanks. That will lead to even more abuse.
Light tanks at least at higher tiers have IRST tracking which can deal with strafing planes. SPAA is still able to first spawn and is much more effective against a strafing plane rather than a plane with rockets or bombs. Full AP cannon loadouts already have SP cost restriction, I’m sure Gaijin can tweak this further to force fighters to spawn with HE rounds or stealth belts.
Either way your team will have equal ability to do the same and to intercept said planes which may or may not want to strafe you.
I thought we were talking about 5.0-8.0…
The primary issue with anti CAS is most people play ground to play ground, not fight planes. SPAA should not be treated as a regular respawn because it’s not what most people want to play. It should have limited spawn cost, unlimited respawns and drastically more rewards.
I play ground to play both tanks and CAS.
It already does. SPAA costs very little to spawn (except for things like the ADATS which get TD costs instead of SPAA cost for some reason) and you get tons of mission score for taking out planes. Unlimited respawns would be interesting though.
You do. I play ground to play ground.
I also play ground to play ground. Yet I have no issues dealing with CAS with a SPAA.
