A customized BR system for the Maus?

One of the interesting aspects of War Thunder is that there are tanks considered impossible to balance with the current BR system, and how that works. An example of this is the Maus – the Maus has characteristics that cause an interesting effect when placed in the current BR system. It starts at 7.7 and thanks to the ±1 it can fall between 6.7 and 8.7. This is interesting because in the best-case scenario it can fight against tanks from World War II and in the worst-case scenario fight against tanks from the 90s. This means it can have an extreme advantage or an extreme disadvantage.

This made me raise a point: in these cases, should there be a BR system that works differently in these cases? for example, the maus can only stay in a br range between 7.3 to a maximum of 8.0 or 7.0 to a maximum of 8.0, preventing advantages or disadvantages.

The point is: do you think this type of proposal could work? Is it a good or bad idea? Do you know of another tank to which this mechanics could also be applied? Comment.

Gaijin is not creating and implementing a specific system strictly for just the Maus. One that is long-term and stupidly expensive. Cause it also needs to function with the normal system as well and causes a whole lot of its own problems.

It would be better to make an actual suggestion that simply shows the different ways a Customizeable/proximity BR system could function. We see small bits such as br’s for naval and planes or tanks and their BR’s being different to their sim and AB counterparts.

There are other examples, such as the SAAB-105G, TU-95M, and IS-family tanks. And a certain object…

Once again, the system idea would affect every vehicle in the game, including hidden ones.

Give an example of how this would affect other vehicles that do not receive this. 🤔

It’s not a bad idea it simply shouldn’t be added; unlike airplanes that can be used in three major types of gamemodes those being air battles, ground battles and naval battles—which Gaijin can use those to move planes around in battle rating depending on what they can do—ground vehicles is locked to ground battles; we won’t see a system like that.

Maus, like any other heavy tank is a interesting case of what heavy usually means; in War Thunder for the most part means big guns, thick armor or terrible mobility. Maus has three of these aspects but something everyone overestimate in War Thunder is: armor; you shouldn’t simply rely on the thickness, if it has a gun it will probably destroy your vehicle.

Using myself as example to why battle rating 7.7 for Maus is good:

Because I don’t send full throttle and my armour magically works, is because I don’t play as a heavy tank that has invincible armor and can withstand anything, I mean, if you really care about positive numbers which usually translate in good performance just play like a coward on the rear supporting allies rather than leading the spearhead.

Like the SAAB-105G and YAK-28B. The Saab-105G is one that the gaijin are still trying to find a way to balance in the game.

Your thread tag specifically mentions ground, we are talking about a ground vehicle; the Maus, and I said since ground vehicles is locked to ground battles-only mode you can’t have a similar system that is applied to airplanes available in three different gamemodes, as I’ve mentioned previously:

Even so, it’s a valid approach. These types of systems are always useful for specific cases, both for airplanes and tanks.

When Gajin adds something like this, it will affect every vehicle.
How does it work for those in Arcade Air, Arcade Ground, Realistic Air, Realistic Ground, and Simulator battles?
It also has to affect Naval Arcade and Realistic as well.
Adding a dynamic Battle ranking system works on paper. But in terms of implementation.
There are so many issues with this. Case example:
Let’s say your Ki-43 I just got a 7.7mm and 12.7mm. (Otsu package).
That means the vehicle itself is now for arcade. Will be fighting 2.3s, 2.7s, and the rare 3.0s. As someone who purposely uses that package, it’s not fun fighting said crafts on a constant basis.
If you have 2 12.7s as your final package. Then 2.7->3.0 and 3.3s.

For Realistic air: 3.0, 3.3, and 3.7s.

If you did this for the Maus somehow, that means it will be fighting
The Maus would be fighting.
AB: 8.3, 8.7, 9.0.
RB: 8.0, 8.3, and 8.7.
That would not end well.

Not only does that mean Gajin will need to start adding this system, but they also need to add everything to support the system, including combat packages.

The Maus getting 20 mm. That basically is a cluster of problems on its own. Cause now you cannot tell if said vehicle is a later variant of this or that vehicle. As sometimes, visually it’s difficult to actually tell.
But another problem is the fact that these vehicles would be fighting stuff that they simply cannot win nor compete with effectively.

Other issues are: Some vehicles simply never had combat packages and were only improved in terms of suspension, traction, or engine. Then you have to figure out how to add Field modifications which may also lead to semi-historical field modifications that are possible, but we do not actually know if someone did it.

The point is the idea itself has so many variables that any normal individual would say is “headache-inducing”

No. The Maus is perfectly competitive at 7.7. Next.

I don’t know about that. I’ve never had the opportunity to test the Maus. The closest experience I had was with the T95, which was enough for me to lose interest in those types of tanks.

It is not for everyone, but it is more than capable of getting a positive win rate or a K/D above 2 or even 3, so clearly it is not struggling. All it really needs is a better lineup around it.

Yeah, but what’s most demotivating is the issue with the maps. Some maps aren’t helpful. And you know… 23 km/h…

It requires patience to play. That is why it’s not for everyone. Like many other situational vehicles it excels on some maps and sucks on others.

Welcome to every vehicle that isnt a medium/mbt.

This feels like a long winded and oddly worded decompression request

in other words. BR COMPRESSION

we dont need to rework the BR systems concept; that works perfectly. Expanding max BR will ease this massively as everything will start to see vehicles that arent as extremely superior or inferior to itself.

The Maus works fine as top tier and in 8.7br in experience hands and in noobs it disaster no pushing with team just sitting around like a mobile bunker and do nothing.

I think it could work for things like the F-104s in ARB where it’s just single vehicles, but for ground I don’t think it’s realistic as it would affect more then just a single vehicle, it affects the whole line up the player brings which could have significant side effects on other vehicles.
